Miniature Antique Eastlake Cupboard Estate find in North Carolina. This is a great little decorative cupboard. It is Eastlake style with carved floral patterns on fancy back panel and on the two side panels that hold the side shelves. There are two shelves on the sides and a cupboard in the center. The cupboard has really nice unusual hinges and thick beveled glass on the door. There is a nice scalloped trim across the top of the cupboard and then a decorative back splash with great cut outs on the sides and across the top. Four cut out finials. Painted yellow with some wear to the paint, it could be left as is, stripped and refinished or repainted. It it a great little piece to use in so many different settings. Jet mourning locket from the late 1800's contains a tiny photo in a case on one side and the other side is smooth with a pearl mounted on it. The necklace is jet beads linked together with a fastener. The chain measures about 20" The locket is 1 1/4" tall and 7/8" wide. The glass door that opens the place for the photo is about 3/4" tall. All of the plates have the same floral pattern/ design. Each plate measures 1 15/16 inches wide by 4 11/16 inches tall by 13/32 of an inch deep. All of the plates are in used condition having aged with some tarnishing. Discoloration, small nicks and scratches and wear. One plate is missing a tab on the back that holds the escutcheon in place. This is the sweetest little desk ever! Measures 25" wide x 19" tall at back splash x 14 1/2" deep. The desk is dark oak with a leather top middle section. When next section is opened it has 2 black boards and when opened again has a drawer type well for books etc. The desk is sturdy and not rickety. Has a pencil groove along the top and we are including an old eraser. The old metal hinges still work well. Has sweet little mortised legs with curved feet. Nice details all over this desk. Antique Eastlake Style Platform Rocker Rocking Chair
Charles Eastlake furniture was the brainchild of Charles Eastlake(1836-1906) A British furniture designer and architect. Eastlake style' as it is referred, is the common name for his style of furniture, which became widespread throughout the last half of the nineteenth century. This is an absolutely gorgeous platform rocker! Made of oak it also has burl oak inserts incorporated into the top of the back. The cloth seat and back are a tapestry style gold, green and pink oval design that really captures the era in which it was made. The seat and seat back have no balling of the cushions which you normally see on furniture of this age. The carvings on the back, arms, support and platform are exquisite. I found this chair at a local Market. Made of OAK and in some areas"tiger" oak on the back. This is a very solid Chair. It looks to me to have some of the features of both the Edwardian and Eastlake Victorian styles. It has been stripped of the original DARK finish to reveal the beautiful Golden Oak. the upholstery is most likely not original but it is solid and matches without being gaudy the Hand carved Flowers in the head area are wonderful as well as the half circle carvings across the top. the sides facing the front are carved with what looks like scales or stylized leaves or a vine. I am assuming it originally had coasters or wheels but they have been replaced with metal buttons. I am listing this wonderful chair as local pickup only.
