Unique Primitive 19th Century French Clay Pottery Pitcher Confit Pot Antique
This is a unique 19th century large French pottery pitcher with a handle and minimal pouring spout. Glaze is mustard gold interior and exterior top half and cream/grey bottom half. Appears to be red clay underneath. The design resembles brick work or a stone wall made of crudely painted marks in green glaze. Probably southern France. Came from an estate with many 19th century French pottery pieces(I have 4 of them, if you don't see them in my other listings please ask) Most of these pottery pieces from that region have flaws in glaze and clay which give them character and this one has many, it is quite primitive. There is crazing/tiny cracks to glaze typical for age. There are no cracks in the clay; there is one chip on the upper rim near the handle and glaze missing underneath the chip on the pitcher vessel. Some of the glaze on the ... moreupper rim is worn off, which is common. It is a beautiful piece and goes well with the other one I have for sale. Estate found.wonderful old stoneware jug in rare cornflower/periwinkle blue glaze. Applied handle under glaze. In excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines. A few flecks of glaze missing near the bottom base, appears to have happened during the firing process. Measures approx. 5.5" tall x 3 3/4" at widest diameter. No makers mark. Another great early piece of furniture that was left in the st one wine cellar of my 1850 clapboard in the olde iron town of Rockaway. Thought that I might be able to use it in the kitchen where it belongs.But have decided instead to part with it.It may very well be yet ano ther piece that once graced the ho me as part of it's original furnishings.Probably of local manufacture or at least nearby Pennsyl vania.My home was reputedly used as a general/dry goods store in Civil war times for at least a short perio d.Rockaway was America's leading center for iron production of cannons and munitions during both The Revolution and the Great Rebellion. Located right next to what was once the old Mo rris Canal. Who knows.This early dry sink may have even seen use in the store. This is a used vintage or antique item, and as such has old paint on it, spots of rust, and general wear. It is not in mint condition. Dimensions are approximately 10x10 for the bin assembly, and the drawer slide is about 10 1/2" x 11" The entire assembly is about 9 inches tall when the bin is slid into the drawer slide, 8.5" tall for just the bin assembly. Measurements are approximate, as I used a tape measure, not a laser measurer or a caliper. Lovely Antique Chinese primitive stool. Made from Elm wood. In Shanxi, China, certificate included. I purchased this at an antique import store in mid 1990's. The certificate that came with it said it was 60 yrs. old at the time, so it is AT LEAST 75 years old. Very sturdy. My 210 lb. husband stood on it without any give at all. Size is 8 1/2" x 9" x 7" at widest points. We are just downsizing. This is a beautiful collector's piece. And definitely a conversation piece.

You're getting two old iron bits in this auction. One has silver colored button conchos. But I'm not sure what metal the silver is. The bit is iron, however, as a magnet sticks to it, as well as the other bit. The concho bit measures 6 1/2" in length with a 5" mouth opening. It has a half-breed mouth bar with a copper roller and comes with a curb chain. No cracks, breaks or repairs to the bit. The other bit measures 7 1/2" in length with a 4 3/16" mouth opening. Three primitive bowl filler-ornie-4th of july firecrackers with a grungy tag attached. The bowl fillers are made out of red and white stripe cotton fabric with a square of star fabric at the top. The firecrackers are cotton stained. The bowl fillers are tied together with jute and they have a grungy tag with the words UNITED WE STAND printed on it with black letters. The firecrackers measure 11 inches plus the jute fuse that is attached at the top. They are stuffed with poly-fil. They come from a smoke free home.
