On the left is a coat size script"I" which has a complete back and hook however the front is missing the letter"I" but has a perfect outline of the letter. Vintage Dyed Mother of Pearl Buttons and Mussel Shells
This is a great addition to a collector of antique/vintage MOP buttons.These were made in a button factory in Muscatine. IA, and the mussels were harvested from the Mississippi River.The buttons were made from dyed shells, cut out as blanks and then carved into buttons. I inherited these from my Aunt, who began working in the button factory in the early 30's. There are some flaws so be sure to look at the pictures, and message me if you have a question.
