Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture. This beautiful antique cabinet has been in my family for many years. It is solid chestnut wood with glass shelves. A truly special piece. It was intended to have been passed down(heirloom piece) unfortunately, we are moving and cannot take it with us. Adorable half size barrister stacked bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase. Piece is executed in quartered quarter sawn oak. Completely professionally refinished with a smooth and even finish. Graduated size in that the bottom 3 stacks are 11.5 high and the top stack is 9.5 high. Manufactured by the Macey Co(a competitor of Globe Wernicke) with each stack retaining the original Macey label. Note the claw feet and'leopard' bands on the sides.
