Antique Rustic Pine Country Hutch Cabinet Bookcase circa late 1800s
A lovely Rustic Hutch Cabinet circa late 19th Century. It has three open upper shelves and a lower two door cabinet with two shelves which will provide you with plenty of storage or display space. Its upper shelves. Front and sides were stripped at some point in its lifetime, but the inside of the cabinet section is still painted and can be stripped to mimic the effect on the rest of the hutch. The hutch has age-apropriate wear and the back and top appear to have never been painted. There is some shrinkage between planks which actually add to its charm. The molding on the upper-left side is missing, but can be replaced by having a duplicate made of the other side. Shorter ones are commonly found, but finding one of this height is truly harder to come by.It has the stenciled mark showing the patented dates of May 16, 1876, Feb 20& Dec 11, 1877. This fine bookcase is designed to rotate on its pedestal for easy access to books from all four sides. This will store numerous books, CD's or DVD's. The heavy duty base has a cast iron rod that the bookcase rotates on and its original casters. The bookcase has a serpentine crest, the doors with arched wavy glass panels. The interior has three adjustable yellow maple selves and maple back boards. Just below the bookcase are two drawers. The secretary case at top has a drop forward writing surface. Below are three long drawers with carved nuts and leaves grips. The drawer interiors are maple. It measures 7'11" 95" tall by 3'8" 44" wide 21" deep, the shelves 9-1/2" deep. The felt writing surface measures 36" by 10-3/4" Very good plus condition: original unworn finish, carvings complete. This antique lawyers bookcase is in beautiful condition. All glass and sliding mechanisms are intact and in working order. There are a few tiny speckles of paint on the top and on one side. look close at the pics and you will see them) but they are barely noticeable. I did not dare try to remove them for fear of damaging an otherwise gorgeous finish. The middle door knob is slightly bent, but again, is it worth it to try to straighten it? I'll leave that up to the buyer. This came from my dad's law office, I hate to sell it, but I have no use for it. Always in a smoke free mildew free environment. This four shelf, two cabinet wall unit also features a 33 3/4" wide by 16" deep writing desk with a drawer. The cabinet with the tambour door measures 33 3/4"w X 19 3/4' h X 15 3/4" deep and features a divided desk compartment. The cabinet with glass doors has the same width and height but measures 12 3/4' deep. Held by three vertical bars, the unit measures approximately 79" h x 69" w x 16" d overall. This bookcase is exquisite. I don't know what time period its from. There is indication on the back that states made in India It appears to be all Hand Carved and Hand Painted and It is HEAVY. I am offering this for local pick up only and would prefer to only accept cash for this transaction. I have accepted paypal on a local pick up before and then the buyer claimed he never received the item. Since there was no way for me to prove that he actually did receive the item in person.
