Vintage Hand Carved Shell Cameo Lamp. Mt. Vesuvius. Sailboats. Art Deco. 1930s.
I grew up with one of these hand-carved Mt. Vesuvius cameo lamp s. Which my grandmother and grandfather picked up in Naples when they went to Egypt and the Mediterranean in the early 1930s. To be honest, I had forgotten how fab it is until I lucked out and came across a pair of these, so I will sell one. The intricately carved cameo scene carved from a whole natural shell(can you believe the quality? depicts a realistic scene of a smoking Mt. Vesuvius towering over the Bay of Naples. I have included a photo of a classic old post card showing the same view. So cool. See Photo 10. The lamp's Art Deco base with horizontal stair-stepped banding(in aluminum. I think) is the same as the one I grew up with. So I can confidently date this to the early 1930s. It would have been made for tourists enjoying the classic Grand Tour before WWII. The ... moreshell, still secure in the threaded brass fitting from the'30s. Screws into the lamp base, and is in beautiful condition with minimal wear. Note the shell's great color and color variegations. This is beautiful in the daytime and even better at night as a nightlight or an accent light on a mantle or on a hallway table. NEW WIRING: These treasures just won't BE here in the future. And we need to save them now. With that in mind, I paid to rewire this one and its mate. With all new fittings and wiring, this uses a readily available 4-watt nightlight bulb which screws into a brand-new fitting clipped inside the lamp base without changing the original Deco design at all. The original cord hole in the base is used for this new cord, and I paid to have a high-quality Leviton cord switch wired into this for safety and convenience. SIZE: This is about 5 7/8" tall. Vintage Art Deco 3 Maiden Gold Globe Figural Table or Desk Lamp w/ marble base
Vintage Art Deco 3 Maiden Gold Globe Figural Table or Desk Lamp w/ marble base? Approximate size: 12" tall x 7-1/2" wide Nice vintage condition. This is from my personal collection that I'm downsizing. It is in good working condition. I'm unsure if the cord is original but it feels a little sticky for some reason. Maybe it could be cleaned with rubbing alcohol? The on/off switch works but it is a little loose and it will turn backwards also. Not sure what kind of metal the lamp is made of but it weighs approximately 5-1/2 pounds. The base is dark green marble. The globe has a small chip along the bottom inner rim which isn't noticeable unless you remove it from the lamp. The rim is rough feeling all around. Not smooth. The globe has a hairline crack near the top that is shown in the last photo. I'm not sure if this ... moreis a crack in the globe or just the way it was made since it does have all kinds of cracks and indentions in it. Just thought I would mention it. I'm not a lamp expert so if you need additional information. Please ask. I collect different things because I like them and I'm not an expert with any one item. LAMP ART DECO STYLE CRACKLE IRRIDESCENT GLASS W/COLORED HUES ON LAMP
I DO NOT SHIP OR SELL IN FLORIDA. This art deco style lamp is 22 1/2" high and has a crackled effect in the glass. That gives it an irridescent array of pink, green, etc. colors when it hits the light. It has a beautiful, decorated, raised leaf design on the brass collar, which is 1 1/8" wide. The collar is secured with screws around the globe, although one screw is missing, but could be easily replaced. The base is 6 1/2" in diameter. I have not cleaned this lamp other than to dust it off, and I will leave that up to the buyer. If you like Art Deco design, then do not hesitate to bid on this one. This globe is not signed but the pattern is known: the origin of the Brothers Muller is certain. It dates from the Art Deco period around 1920. Vtg Art Deco LINCOLN Hanging Ceiling lamp 5 SLIP SHADE Light Fixture chandelier
I have up for sale a wonderful vintage Art Deco circa 1920s- 30s LINCOLN MFG CO 5 slip shade hanging lamp light fixture. Estate fresh and in Very Good to Excellent As Found Condition. These are nice big shades.Larger than most slip shades commonly seen. They measure approx 6-3/4" from top to bottom, and are made of thick heavy glass, weighing approx 1 lbs 8 ounces each. This is an original matching set of shades, all have the same coloration and mold design. All the shades are in Excellent Condition- there is some normal age appropriate light wear but nothing that is significant. A few minor nibbles/ flea bite nicks but overall they are in great shape. One shade does have an inner rim chip but this is barely noticed from the exterior. The coloration and finish is excellent, the shades have a fired on finish. The design mold definition ... moreis excellent as well. There are No cracks,No breaks,no repairs, any wear is lighted to meager flea bite nips and one shade with an inner rim small chip that barely shows through to the front. The fixture itself is in Very Good original condition as well. No Damages- no cracks. No breaks, no repairs, etc. There is some age appropriate wear to the finish- some losses to the paint- nothing major but noted. The frame has not been cleaned and nor has the wiring or sockets been tested. All looks good, but I have not wired it up and tested it. The shades will be packaged with great care. Double boxed and most likely will be shipped separately from the fixture because of size. This is a wonderful vintage style stained/leaded glass electric wall sconce/fixture. it has a wonderful art deco look and a great shape. done in triangle shapes and has a great detailing on the top edge. it's all wired and ready to hang. it holds a single generic sized bulb. looks great when lit up and the light illuminates through the stained glass. measures 13 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches up and down and sits 7 inches from the wall. in good shape.
