Description This wooden cutting board is in excellent condition. It is signed by Jo hn Dunn. Beautiful hand painted by the sought after Folk Artist John Dunn. Most of his work was sold at Sturbridge Village in the 1980's. In the 1950s Peter Ompir met Warner Wrede and together the two of them painted. Signing the pieces“Peter Ompir. In the 1960s Ompir and Wrede moved to Sheffield, Mass. where they continued to work. Wrede primarily painted the basecoat on the objects that Peter decorated. Peter Ompir died in 1979. Warner Wrede continued to paint the Ompir style, still signing it“Peter Ompir. Warner Wrede continued to paint and his painting career spanned over 50 years. John Dunn. Description Other than the ping on the top of the can. It is in excellent condition. Signed by John Dunn in 1984. Beautiful hand painted by the sought after Folk Artist John Dunn. Most of his work was sold at Sturbridge Village in the 1980's. In the 1950s Peter Ompir met Warner Wrede and together the two of them painted. Signing the pieces“Peter Ompir. In the 1960s Ompir and Wrede moved to Sheffield, Mass. where they continued to work. Wrede primarily painted the basecoat on the objects that Peter decorated. Peter Ompir died in 1979. Peter OMPIR FIDDLER MAN Tin Round TOLE HANDPAINTED Folk Art
This is a very nice example of PETER OMPIR'S works. During his lifetime Peter Ompir was at his height in the 1970's. Ompir's work soon generated a great demand for more. And his pieces were selling in Macy's, Neiman-Marcus, Sloan's of New York, Magnin's, and Meier& Frank. In the 1970's Peter's treasures were proudly offered for sale by Harry& Velma Visse at their Corner House gift shop in Portland, Oregon. This piece measures about 12 3/8" across and 2' deep. The patina is lovely and I believe that the subject, the'Fiddler" is somewhat unusual. I love the detail of the shading and composition. There is overall small chipping in the paint all the way around the rim. I personally don't think it takes away from the Folk Art of the piece. It is also is about 1 1/8” deep. The handles left and right are circular rolled under. Please refer to the scan of the underside for reference. The stenciled design in cream. Green and red paint on both left and right sides is beautiful and carries over along the top and bottom sides. There appears to be an under wash of a copper color that shows through the paint in various areas and quite a lot on the reverse side. The piece of older tape on the reverse mentions the fact that at one time the piece had four balled feet, one at each corner. These however are no longer present. The character of the tray does not suffer with them missing. ... moreThe seams of the tin are tight with the exception of one ¾”slight split in the tin seam running from the base of the tray diagonally to the top corner. Nothing really serious. There are a couple of older light scratches in the base area. A great addition to any Toleware, Tole, Tin Painted Tin, Tableware, Primitive or Americana collection. ANTIQUE 19c OHIO TOLE TOLEWARE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE COFFEE POT UNIQUE SPIRAL TOP
It's real old and has been well used.There's as much weight in solder in this as tin and it even has a patch on the inside.There's not any dents in it and it's not rusted out but it's has been repaired in several places with what looks like different kinds of solder from different eras of repair.I'm not sure if the copper bottom came with it originally or not.It could have possibly been added to it or it could have been made that way.I'm just not sure.From looking inside of this I'm sure it was red originally.The brown painted backround has a textured feel to it and it's been beautifully hand painted by someone who was a very talented artist.The metal piece that holds the lid on permantly is broken but it will stay on and go up and down without a problem because theres enough of it left to easily take the ... moretop on and off.It has a unique spiral on the lid.I havn't seen another top like it and wish I knew who made it.It's 11 1/4" tall and the base is 6 1/2" wide.This was purchased at a antique shop in Ohio by a relative back in 1942 and was recently rediscovered in a box wrapped in a newspaper from 1975.The paint job on this is in excellent condition and was like this when it was purchased so it was painted over 70 years ago.It's water based paint and is really balanced.It just has several holes that have been repaired with solder.It's a neat unique piece of history and artwork but just don't have a place for it that's why it's for sale.This is a one and done ad as far as relisting it is concerned.If it doesn't sell I'm going to wrap it back up in the same newspaper and put it away in the same box for my grandchildren and hope they will appreciate it.I'm charging a flat rate of $20 to properly pack and ship this with $300 worth of insurance.If you have any questions just ask.

I have had these for over 30 years and they were ancient when I got them. Made from tin. They are hand painted in the cottage style tole with a basket of flowers that still shows lovely color for their age. 2 Handpainted Folk Art Primitive Look Bowls Large 6 1/4" & small 3 1/2" Across
Odd shaped primitive looking folk art hand painted bowls. Large bowl with painted bird on the inside and flowers with smaller bird on the outside is about 6 1/4" across and 3" tall. Smaller bowl is about 3 1/2" across and 1 5/8" tall. I do not know what they are made of- very light material- not plastic- maybe some type of wood? Irregular rounding.
