Small Primitive Vintage Hand Painted Toleware Tin Box Hinged Lid Spice Box or? I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and shop with another ebayer seller from out of town recently- a real catfish moment. Because we’ve talked for years, but never met! No surprises, just all fun and did we shop until we dropped! I have lots of very cool items for you that I will be listing all week. Enjoy! This old box is somewhat of a mystery to me. It's made from a metal that a magnet stick to- and it's light and definitely has the feel and weigh of tin. But if you look closely at the inside, it has a patination that looks very much like the pattern on galvanized steel(but this doesn't have the weight of steel) Look at my inside photos and see what you think- it's a first for me. The other thing that would support whether it's galvanized ... moreis that, although the metal shows darkness form age, it does not have rust- there's rust colored spots, but I do think that is from the paint. Whatever it's made of, it's held up very very well.this one is a charmer. Measuring 3" square and 2 1/2" tall, it is the size of the spice boxes that I have seen, but there's no name etc. on it. It weighs a smidge under 1/4 lb. It has a lovely hand painted finish- the background of the body is gold, and the top and bottom are black, and they are accented with flowers on all 4 sides in shades of rust, green, burgundy and grey. The top of the lid, and the sides of the lid have thin line hand painted borders too. The hinged lid works perfectly, and the lid fits well, and stays securely in place. It really is in excellent solid and sturdy condition overall- I can't find a ding. There is wear to the finish all over in small scratches and scrapes- it's easier to see at the solid black on top. There's also some palpable small white spots on all 4 sides- see photo 4 for a good example- those aren't paint chips, those are something on TOP of the paint- it feels like paper to me- as if this was wrapped i

EARLY PRIMITIVE FOLK ART TOLEWARE PAINTED STENCILED TIN TRAY ROLLED HANDLES
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 OLDER TOLEWARE PAINTED STENCILED TRAY ROLLED HANDLES This is a real nice older tray that measures 12 ½” from left to right and 8” from top to bottom. It is also is about 1 1/8” deep. The handles left and right are circular rolled under. Please refer to the scan of the underside for reference. The stenciled design in cream. Green and red paint on both left and right sides is beautiful and carries over along the top and bottom sides. There appears to be an under wash of a copper color that shows through the paint in various areas and quite a lot on the reverse side. The piece of older tape on the reverse mentions the fact that at one time the piece had four balled feet, one at each corner. These however are no longer present. The character of the tray does not suffer with them missing. ... moreThe seams of the tin are tight with the exception of one ¾”slight split in the tin seam running from the base of the tray diagonally to the top corner. Nothing really serious. There are a couple of older light scratches in the base area. A great addition to any Toleware, Tole, Tin Painted Tin, Tableware, Primitive or Americana collection. ANTIQUE 19c OHIO TOLE TOLEWARE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE COFFEE POT UNIQUE SPIRAL TOP
It's real old and has been well used.There's as much weight in solder in this as tin and it even has a patch on the inside.There's not any dents in it and it's not rusted out but it's has been repaired in several places with what looks like different kinds of solder from different eras of repair.I'm not sure if the copper bottom came with it originally or not.It could have possibly been added to it or it could have been made that way.I'm just not sure.From looking inside of this I'm sure it was red originally.The brown painted backround has a textured feel to it and it's been beautifully hand painted by someone who was a very talented artist.The metal piece that holds the lid on permantly is broken but it will stay on and go up and down without a problem because theres enough of it left to easily take the ... moretop on and off.It has a unique spiral on the lid.I havn't seen another top like it and wish I knew who made it.It's 11 1/4" tall and the base is 6 1/2" wide.This was purchased at a antique shop in Ohio by a relative back in 1942 and was recently rediscovered in a box wrapped in a newspaper from 1975.The paint job on this is in excellent condition and was like this when it was purchased so it was painted over 70 years ago.It's water based paint and is really balanced.It just has several holes that have been repaired with solder.It's a neat unique piece of history and artwork but just don't have a place for it that's why it's for sale.This is a one and done ad as far as relisting it is concerned.If it doesn't sell I'm going to wrap it back up in the same newspaper and put it away in the same box for my grandchildren and hope they will appreciate it.I'm charging a flat rate of $20 to properly pack and ship this with $300 worth of insurance.If you have any questions just ask.

Estate found.this is one of the most charming toleware trays I have ever come across! Vintage and signed. This tray depicts a scene of a chipmunk or squirrel perched atop a piece of wood seemingly conversing with a grasshopper. Beautifully painted flowers, mushrooms, berries, nuts/acorns and leaves all done in warm autumn colors. This piece is signed, but it is very hard to make out the name.possibly Rosa Pope/Popa? Antique Primitive Tin Toleware Box: Hand Painted, Black, Gold, Early 1900s
This little tin box is about recipe box size at 5-3/4" X 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" deep. It was acquired at an estate sale where all of the items being sold were from the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is hand painted and I believe the tole design is actually stenciled on with gold paint with red shading. The top. As shown in the photo, is a cluster of three cherries; the front and back panels have a swag with a little red flower in the middle; and the end panels have a daisy-like flower. The black paint job is not first rate: there are a few areas where the original drips and brush strokes can be seen and it has now become crazed. This is part of what makes this piece so very charming. The stenciling is mostly intact except for an area of paint loss on the largest cherry. Overall I would consider the box to be in nice condition given ... moreits probable 100+ year age. There are a number of small dents and dings. Nothing of real significance. The lid fits on and off as it should with a small amount of effort. There are a few small areas of paint loss, primarily around the edge where the lid has rubbed; there is one small"blob" of white paint right beneath where the top of the lid ends; and there is some surface rust on the interior including one pin-hole size area where light shows through. Primitive Folk Art Metal Can With Sprinkler Top Hand Painted Toleware
I really don't know what to say about this can. It is interesting. I would call it Folk Art or Toleware. I think it is something an individual has put together and hand painted. It is a metal can. There is tape around the top and I am leaving it there. I do not know why it is there. The sprinkler top fits OK so it is not helping to hold it in. The yellow looking area around the bottom. At first I thought it was tape but now I think it is wax. There is a circle of styrofoam under the bottom. I am not sure what the purpose of that is. There is some paint loss and discoloring. Big Tole Toleware Painted Floral Primitive Wood Wooden Spoon Fork/Spork Vintage
28" wooden primitive toleware spoon and fork(which is more like a spork really) They have orange-ish painted flowers on there. They sorta look like poinsettias but the color seems wrong. The finish or lacquer? has turned gray and is crazing/flaking off. It does give it a very shabby chic look. Some paint has went with it but not bad. They feel very"dry" but it is because of the flaking finish. I would leave them exactly like they are but spray with a clear polyurethane to preserve them in their current state and keep them from further deterioration. In AS IS condition. This is a lovely coffee pot. It has a lot of warmth and character. It is in pretty good shape for its old age. It does have some dents and dings and some small patches of rust here and there. This is 10" tall to the top of the handle. The bottom has a 8.5" diameter. We offer fast shipping time and we do add $2 to that for insurance that is shown as a handling fee. Antique 19th C Fries Tin Grain Painted Toleware Primitive Spice Box Kitchenware
Up for auction is an antique Fries& Co tin toleware spice box recently found at auction in the Lancaster County. PA area. It is found in good used condition, but is missing one of the interior individual spice boxes, as seen best in photo#2. The exterior is grain painted in a yellow and yellow color, but quite dirty. This entire piece could benefit from a good cleaning. There are several scratches on this box, with losses to the paint on all sides. The bottom of the tin is unpainted. It has a hasp on the side. In the day, spices were valuable and locked when not being used. The top of the box has a swing handle so it can be easily carried where needed. The overall case measures approximately 9 5/8" x 6 5/8" x 3 3/8" in size. Each individual spice box measures approximately 3" x 3" x 2 1/4" without the acorn ... morefinial. Each individual box is signed, but quite difficult to make out. The ones I can read are as follows: Cloves, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cinnamon, Allspice. This spice box is also missing its original grinder, with would have fit inside the lid. A nice country primitive, great for use or repurposing. Please see the other kitchenware. Perhaps sitting the milk pail in a near by creek or stream to keep their milk cold. Bottom of pail has lots of dents. The milk pail has wonderful crazing as you can see in the photo's(sorry for the glares) Some paint loss and lots of dings and dents. If you collect early pieces of toleware you will like this piece. Measures 7 3/4" 8 1/2" including the bent handle on the lid) with the bail handle up 11 12" x 5" bottom. I tried to remove the lid(to photo) and was unable to without chipping more of the paint. This is an auction for an old prim tole painted WELCOME folk art sign. This antique sign came from my grandparent’s home in Kansas(and they lived there for all of their 80+ years) And was kept inside their breezeway porch, at the main door to the house. My mum and dad brought it back to their home in the 1970’s after my grandparents passed away. And from then on, it hung outside our family’s side door in the garage. This sign was made locally in Columbus, Kansas, and is hand-painted and designed, measuring 27.5” long, 8” wide and ¾” thick. Painted black on all sides, the front is brightly colored and there are scenes of a red barn with a white“picket” fence, a white farmhouse with a green roof and a heart shaped design on the front of the house, a whimsical brown cow and a wife and husband with three children: two girls and a boy. Vintage hand-painted tin coffee pot with a copper bottom and attached lid. The coffee pot is painted black with a strawberry toleware folk art pattern and a green. Red and white pattern around the upper and lower sides. The bottom of the pot has been left natural copper. Pot measures: 10" tall with lid x 10" wide with spout and handle. Coffee pot is in good. Rustic-looking condition. The copper bottom has a beautiful natural patina and the spout and handle are nice and sturdy. The bottom has a couple small dings and the pot itself has lots of scratches and chipped paint on the outside, as well as surface rust and oxidation on the inside, giving it such a charming primitive appeal! Toleware Tray 20" Oval Black Primitive Antique Crackle Aged Handpaint OOAK
OFFERING FOR BID- Welcome to my sale TODAY I'm offering this large oval tole tray. Measures 20-1/4 x 15-1/2 x 1" tall- So this is one of those Items; the more I look at this the more I just dont know. Severe crackle overall, and looks so very old, but unknown. I would liken it to paint that got too much heat or painted wood(alligatored) exposed to the south side. I know that there is crackle finishes out today; but this is older than that. Notice the 3 bronze bands, probably stenciled. I believe this is old toleware, with the back having been repainted by brush. The tole flowers are limited to the center and are nicely done. This has a 1" raised rim rolled edge and is heavy thick sturdy gauge metal. The back side is black and when held in certain light you can see large brush stoke signifies repainted, plus in the crevaces of ... morethe rim; you can see loss of paint exposing metal that looks almost rusted. Under the the paint, has covered some old scaring, blemish, small dents and chippy paint. I searched to find something like this, and found nothing similar. There is minimal surface wear commiserate with age to the front if you discount the crackle. With 2 underlying scars(actually just has not crackled) This is from an estate sale and I do not know the age, history or details. There are no maker's marks. Functional and sturdy. Sits solid, no wobble obvious signs was the most loved. Used, treasured and saved- and looks very old. Please view all of the pictures in this listing to help determine your own assesment. Antique Primitive Painted Toleware Wall Mount Match Safe Candle Box Ochre Green
This piece of tin toleware measures 5" wide. 4 7/8" tall, and 4" long. The piece has two compartments, a large upper compartment, and a smaller lower compartment. The smaller lower compartment has some paint loss on its interior, and many, many chips of paint that are lifting up and ready to come off if scraped/scratched. The rest of the piece has very minor paint loss, as evidenced in the close-up photos. The piece is mainly painted in an ochre color, which is similar to a yellowish-tan. There is some outlining/highlighting of various edges in black paint. There is some foliate styled(floral/leaves) painting on the front of the upper compartment and the backsplash, executed in green, red and yellow. Up for bid is this antique primitive toleware flowered bowl. It is 8 1/2" round and 1 3/4" high and is multi colored. The bowl is not exactly perfectly shaped. A little off as you can see in the pictures. Quite primitive. Also there is paint loss. Check out pictures. Lot of pretty detail. This is just one of the many many pieces that were found in an attic of a elderly woman. Most pieces found have to be around 40 years. This piece I believe is a lot older.
