Kreamer Manufacturing, is embossed on the bottom. This tin was painted in the 1950's by an artisan on Cape Ann. MA. She used antique trays, boxes, pitchers, scoops, etc. for the base of her art. In the Cape Ann area there was no shortage of good antique metalware to use. The clear lacquer. And some of the paint, has reticulated in some areas. Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration Wire Handle
This is an Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration. The box has a Wire Handle on the top. The hinged lid tin box has the black oxidation to the tin base and interior which signifies an antique piece of tin ware. The tole paint toleware decoration is later to the box and possibly dates to about the 1950-60's when tole ware painting was very popular as a craft. Someone did an outstanding job painting this box with delft brush strokes and excellent grasp of how to use the tole painting brushes. The skilled painting was done by someone who knew what they were doing. Also the artist used antique tole ware designs and patterns to decorate the box. The box was not varnished either so it has that matte look to resemble the 19th century tin tole painting. The tin box also displays beautifully. It measures 8" wide. 4" ... moredeep and 5" tall. Small Primitive Vintage Hand Painted Toleware Tin Box Hinged Lid Spice Box or? I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and shop with another ebayer seller from out of town recently- a real catfish moment. Because we’ve talked for years, but never met! No surprises, just all fun and did we shop until we dropped! I have lots of very cool items for you that I will be listing all week. Enjoy! This old box is somewhat of a mystery to me. It's made from a metal that a magnet stick to- and it's light and definitely has the feel and weigh of tin. But if you look closely at the inside, it has a patination that looks very much like the pattern on galvanized steel(but this doesn't have the weight of steel) Look at my inside photos and see what you think- it's a first for me. The other thing that would support whether it's galvanized ... moreis that, although the metal shows darkness form age, it does not have rust- there's rust colored spots, but I do think that is from the paint. Whatever it's made of, it's held up very very well.this one is a charmer. Measuring 3" square and 2 1/2" tall, it is the size of the spice boxes that I have seen, but there's no name etc. on it. It weighs a smidge under 1/4 lb. It has a lovely hand painted finish- the background of the body is gold, and the top and bottom are black, and they are accented with flowers on all 4 sides in shades of rust, green, burgundy and grey. The top of the lid, and the sides of the lid have thin line hand painted borders too. The hinged lid works perfectly, and the lid fits well, and stays securely in place. It really is in excellent solid and sturdy condition overall- I can't find a ding. There is wear to the finish all over in small scratches and scrapes- it's easier to see at the solid black on top. There's also some palpable small white spots on all 4 sides- see photo 4 for a good example- those aren't paint chips, those are something on TOP of the paint- it feels like paper to me- as if this was wrapped i

It is also is about 1 1/8” deep. The handles left and right are circular rolled under. Please refer to the scan of the underside for reference. The stenciled design in cream. Green and red paint on both left and right sides is beautiful and carries over along the top and bottom sides. There appears to be an under wash of a copper color that shows through the paint in various areas and quite a lot on the reverse side. The piece of older tape on the reverse mentions the fact that at one time the piece had four balled feet, one at each corner. These however are no longer present. The character of the tray does not suffer with them missing. ... moreThe seams of the tin are tight with the exception of one ¾”slight split in the tin seam running from the base of the tray diagonally to the top corner. I think is is a japanned surface(baked enamel) It measures 7-1/2 by 5-3/4 by 2-3/4 inches.I can see soldering on bottom edges where it is joined to a tin bottom. Top has some worn through or scratched off places and some fading at bottom. Sides also have some scratches. Overall it llooks good for an 1800's piece. Lovely antique toleware coffee tin canister/bin featuring a wonderful transfer and painted family coat/crest of arms. In remarkable condition for age.light paint loss. Extremely minor denting, some age discoloration/oxidation in metal on the inside of can. Please note.some of the dark area inside the can appears to be very old coffee which over time has broken down and solidified. I will leave any cleaning to the buyer if they wish, I myself would leave as found. This piece was acquired through the estate of an elderly, long time former antique dealer who closed her shop in the early 1990's. This is a wonderful old toleware tray that measures 12" x 22½" and has a slanted lip that is approx 1¼" deep. It is trimmed in gold colored paint with gold leaves and dark green grapes with red& bold apples. Black and gold peaches, and a red and gold rose?
