Vintage metal tole tray. Hand painted toleware. Black tray with a floral pattern and goldtone trim. Measures approximately 17" by 13 1/2" It is in well preserved condition with still bright popping colors. There is a small dent in the middle and a spot where the paint chipped away on the dent(top part of large pink flower in the middle) signs of wear from age and use, but still a beautiful tray! No rust. Back side of tray has scratches. Pretty tray with keyhole handles. All of my items come from a very non smoking home. BIG Vtg Hand Painted BLACK CHIPPENDALE Roses TOLE TRAY This beautiful tole tray is quite large- it's 28" wide by 22.75" tall. It has a nice Chippendale shape and beautiful hand-painted roses and other flowers in the center. Unfortunately. Someone punched holes in it, probably to hang? just below the rim top and bottom. This makes the tray a bit more on the shabby side of cottage chic. But it's still a beautiful piece that I wouldn't part with if I still had room for it! There is some light surface wear such as scratches and some rubs to the paint on this piece. XL Vintage Reticulated Hand Painted Floral & Black tole tray- PRICE REDUCED!
There is no date on this tray however I would guess it would be somewhere from the mid 1940's to the 1960's. The tray is fairly heavy(almost 4 pounds) for its size(which is 24"x17.5"x1.25" and it was done by an expert painter. You can see the brushstrokes and the paint is applied liberally.There is a little wear as you would expect in a piece of this age. And I've tried to show it in the photos. The worst thing, in my opinion, are small pops of paint in the area of the floral design on the front. One photo shows this. The spots are small and not glaring, but they are there and you can see them clearly in the photo I think. The black has wear and some places where there is heavy wear,especially on the back and the reticulated area. I think this tray was used as a table for most of its life before it came to me(where ... moreit hung on the wall and made quite a statement! and I say that because you can clearly see wear on the back where there were 4 legs in contact with the tray. I have shown the worst one in a close up but as you can see there is no rust in this area. As to rust, there are a few areas in corners, or seams, or the reticulated area where the finish is a bit"rough" and which may be rust either starting, or perhaps just the finish getting loose, but there is no flaking or actively loose areas. I am trying to describe this as well as I can because it's hard to really get great photos of a black tray without flash bounce so, while none of these areas bothered me in the least, I want you to know that they are there. Overall it is a lovely old tray and I think with a coat of wax, the more worn areas would become even less obvious. But, I want to leave that up to the new owner. This tray looks fabulous on the wall, but it is heavy enough to be used as a table, too, as it was in the past. I took lots of photos so you can see the whole tray and decide for yourself. Tin Tole Tip Tray Black Hand Painted Flowers Vintage
I don't know much at all about these things. its yard sale season and I try to grab vintage items no matter what they are) I actually had to search eBay just to figure out what to call it and to see what section to put it in. The tray is roughly 7 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches. I would give it a 94 to 95 out of 100% in condition. There are some small scratches that you have to hold the tray at an angle to see on the front. And a couple spots on bottom, but as you can see from pics it is a BEAUTIFUL- SOLID piece. I believe these are HAND Painted and this one is signed by the painter. TOO you can see on the back there is a HALLMARK stamp but I have no idea what company it is from. Thanks for looking!

The measurements of the bottom tray are 9 7/8" long by 7 3/8" wide. It is 14 1/4" tall. The mirror itself w/o the ball holding is 6 3/4" in diameter. The mirror is its original as is all its parts. Large(16" x 22½" x 1 ½" Vintage English tole tray was hand painted in the mid 1900s and was a decorative piece in a shop in Italy that was closing down. If you look closely at the pictures, you will see some wear due to sunlight and age…in my opinion, it adds character and I personally love this look…it weathered and antique looking due to this. This is one of my favorite things! VINTAGE/ANTIQUE TOLE PAINTED WOOD TRAY Beautiful roses design Please read entire description. I have had this for years and years. purchased at an estate sale) and I am now downsizing. This gorgeous tray is in structurally excellent condition(also note that the corners are dove-tailed, or tongue and groove construction ~ very nice) The painted floral design is excellent. In good color, and the paint is beautifully textured ~ slightly raised here and there. All along the edges of the tray. The black paint is scuffed, giving it a naturally charming vintage distressed look. This would be perfect with your shabby chic. Cottage, or Victorian decor. There is one long chip out of the edge of the wood ~ see photos for detail, but this never bothered me at all when I had it displayed in my home. Measures about 14-1/2" ... morelong(NOT counting the handles) and 9-1/2" wide. Just gorgeous ~ enjoy~!
