Kreamer Manufacturing, is embossed on the bottom. This tin was painted in the 1950's by an artisan on Cape Ann. MA. She used antique trays, boxes, pitchers, scoops, etc. for the base of her art. Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration Wire Handle
This is an Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration. The box has a Wire Handle on the top. The hinged lid tin box has the black oxidation to the tin base and interior which signifies an antique piece of tin ware. The tole paint toleware decoration is later to the box and possibly dates to about the 1950-60's when tole ware painting was very popular as a craft. Someone did an outstanding job painting this box with delft brush strokes and excellent grasp of how to use the tole painting brushes. The skilled painting was done by someone who knew what they were doing. Also the artist used antique tole ware designs and patterns to decorate the box. The box was not varnished either so it has that matte look to resemble the 19th century tin tole painting. The tin box also displays beautifully. It measures 8" wide. 4" ... moredeep and 5" tall. Description: EXCEPTIONAL. Early 19th Century TIN DOCUMENT BOX, in Original condition. CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC FLORAL DECORATION. Done in a classic TOLEWARE Style, is still 90% or better complete, better than I have ever found in this area. ALL ORIGINAL. The colors of Turquoise, Red, and Yellow, though now muted with age, are still relatively bright. Many of these old Tin boxes were faded over the years, or worn, so were then handpainted over the decoration. This one is ALL ORIGINAL, and has never been altered or painted over. Even the TRIM lines are still relatively complete. Again. There is WEAR and muting, but still very very discernible and bright, without being garish. Large-domed lid still has most of the golden TRIM around it. Even the golden DECORATION around the top handle is still nearly complete. SIZE: Approx 9 1/2" long. 8 3/4" ... morehigh. Not counting handle. 6 1/8" deep. CONDITION: Very very good. Best I have ever had. HOWEVER, the LATCH is MISSING. I can pick up by handle and it stays closed, when EMPTY. One small, 1" sep at back. Clean inside. Some AGING darkening to tin, but otherwise clean. Scratches on outside. I took lots of pictures. I am proud to offer this Beautiful Piece of Autentic, UNALTERED American heritage. Up for bid is an Antique Kitchen Steamer Pot. It is in EXCELLENT condition! The bottom pot is made of copper. The other pieces are made of tin. The piece under the lid does not have a bottom.it is used to make the steamer pot higher if needed. This is a unique piece of cookware. It measures 16" to the top rim of the highest pot. This is a very nice set of 3 Toleware Tin Bowls. They have a beautiful strawberry design. They are all original and in excellent condition. The large bowl measures 12.5" at the rim and 9.5" at the base and 3.5" deep. The medium bowl measures 8.5" at the rim and 6" at the base and 2.5" deep. It is painted black, with an alligator finish. Some of the base metal and rust run through the finish. There is a hasp on the side to secure the box when closed, and a bail handle on top. It would have held family documents and other valuables. This box measures approximately 7 3/4" x 4 3/8" x 4 1/2" It is 1 1/2" taller with the handle fully extended. A nice primitive box. Antique Primitive Tin Toleware Box: Hand Painted, Black, Gold, Early 1900s
This little tin box is about recipe box size at 5-3/4" X 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" deep. It was acquired at an estate sale where all of the items being sold were from the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is hand painted and I believe the tole design is actually stenciled on with gold paint with red shading. The top. As shown in the photo, is a cluster of three cherries; the front and back panels have a swag with a little red flower in the middle; and the end panels have a daisy-like flower. The black paint job is not first rate: there are a few areas where the original drips and brush strokes can be seen and it has now become crazed. This is part of what makes this piece so very charming. The stenciling is mostly intact except for an area of paint loss on the largest cherry. Overall I would consider the box to be in nice condition given ... moreits probable 100+ year age. There are a number of small dents and dings. Nothing of real significance. The lid fits on and off as it should with a small amount of effort. There are a few small areas of paint loss, primarily around the edge where the lid has rubbed; there is one small"blob" of white paint right beneath where the top of the lid ends; and there is some surface rust on the interior including one pin-hole size area where light shows through. This is an estate piece being sold as is. As found. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other storage odors or pets.
