This carving is a very interesting carving and was carved in a cut out cameo like style. The swallow is black with accents of white. Beige and red. The Edelweiss flowers are white, yellow, and green. Unusual antique carved wood German barometer/thermometer/hygrometer. The piece has"B. Straub" carved on the front and lettering is all in German. I've not seen one that has the hygrometer included. Rather unique. The glass covering the hygrometer needs to be cleaned however. The thermometer section is porcelain with no chips or cracks. The barometer section is also in nice condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The carving well done in a Black Forest German style.The back side has tin covering the thermometer and barometer sections. It measures 16 1/4" by 6 3/4" approximately. It appears to be in working order. No international sales, payment through Paypal please.

He has red painted eyes with black pupils and a huge beak which is painted a beigy yellow and the inside is painted red and shows the hand carving strokes of the carver. This could be used for a myriad of purposes- pens and pencil holder, paper clips, safety pins, stamps, etc. It would also be great on a night stand to hold earrings or miscellaneous jewelry. Offered for sale is this exquisite German Black Forest wood carving"Squirrel on tree trunk" The squirrel is grabbing a little animal on its left front claws and the right front claws are grabbing the trunk. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. No signature and the exact age unknown, probably 1900's or so. The trunk is hollow on top, it size about 2-1/2"in depth. x 2-3/4"in diameter. It can hold a candle inside but this is too good to be a candle holder. The piece measures 6-3/4"H x 7-1/2"W x 6"Deep. The piece is heavy nice wood. Everything down to the smallest detail on the guitar, pipes, and rucksack are perfect– it has wormholes underneath the base(please see highly detailed photographs below… There are no damages whatsoever other than an ancient repair to the base where a natural crack was reinforced with glue- it has covered over well throughout time. There are a lot of rare old butter paddles and round wood press molds found at the old farm sales in our area, but, I have never seen an itinerants mirror like this one before. See highly detailed pictures below; Measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 4 1/2 inches wide from head to back of backpack(depth) and 3 1/3 inches left to right while facing the musician. Antique Black Forest Style Hand Carved Wall Shelf
I am breaking up my collection of hand carved wall shelves. Moved into smaller place and don't have room. I have collected these over the years at Estate Sales. Ebay purchases, antique auctions, etc. I do not know the origin, but suspect it was carved in Switzerland or Germany around the turn of the century. It is in good condition and has only one small chip on the top of the shelf against the wall, so it is not seen. Dimensions: shelf 12" x 7" and height is 12" Carving of the bird and branches is in great detail. A real work of art that you don't see anymore. To reduce risk of breakage in shipment, I will detach the shelf(three screws) from the body of the shelf.

This great old hand carved sculpture stands just about 13" tall on a which measures 6 by 8 inches. It's in good condition but does have some flaws and restoration. There is a chip off the woman's foot and the bow in back of her dress. But the worst damage is in the neck area where her head was re-attached. Even with these flaws. However, the sculpture retains its strong European flavor and historic import. Dealer scuttlebutt traces the carving to the World Famous Mader's restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the end of Prohibition in 1933. Estate found.wonderful pair of early Black Forest carved bookends featuring an old man and woman. I love the expressions on their faces which are finely detailed. In very good condition with a lovely patina. There is a small toothpick sized hole at the corner of the mans mouth as if something may have been held there at one time? This is very hard to see as both sides of the mouth match perfectly and the small round hole blends in with the carved wrinkles around the mouth. Each measures approx. 8 1/4" tall x 4" x 4.5" A very charming example of old European folk art.

Beautiful large antique hand carved Black Forest center piece. The work shows two deer. Male and female, sitting and standing next to a tree. The patina is wonderful, and the carving is of exceptional quality. Height is approximately 14 inches, width is 7 1/2 inches at widest point. There are some minor losses on the tree that need to re carved, as well as antlers on the deer need some work. I have seen these sculptures in antique shops for many thousands. A very nice antique Victorian Era shelf. Just found this at an estate sale. The little lady who passed had these 2 houses just to store her collection/addiction. The shelf is hand carved from mahogany wood and is from the Black Forest region of Germany. Marked under shelf is the numbers 393. Measures approx 10" tall and 6" in depth. Both sides of antlers have previously been glued back on and there are some tips of the antlers missing. Tip of spool coming off upper right side is missing. This is still a beautiful display piece! Antique Carved Wood Bear Lamp 20" tall Probably Black Forest I purchased this at a swap meet some years ago. The only information on it I know is what I acquired from the seller. She said that at one time it had a plate on the top of arm that is extended up. She also thought it was from Germany. The bear on the stand measures 20" tall. The base is 12" wide. I have uploaded tons of pictures. But will point out the rough spots that I notice too. The back of the hand of the extended arm is broken off and there is a chunk out of the front of the end of that arm too. I see 2 nails in the right foot, and there is a line on the arm that is in front of the bear that I can't tell if it is just an irregularity in the wood, or a repaired crack.

This is a really interesting item acquired at a recent estate sale. It looks to be Black Forest carved wood. Of a jolly fat Monk. This was most likely used as a tobacco jar. It is also a music box as well. The jar measures about 6" tall. Very good condition except the head of the monk is loose, and I have not tried to re-attach. Two carved ferns on the bottom of the plaque sort of act like a decorative collar for the dog. To carve oak this fine really needs a master carver. With Glass Eyes, Bottle Stopper This is a Vintage Hand Carved Black Forest Bottle Stopper. That is in the shape of a head of a Bulldog. It was carved in great detail by master carvers in the early 1900s. The dog has glass eyes and the cork is inside the dogs head. His head covers the top of the bottle instead of sitting on top. The cork is partially missing please see pictures. He's Big and beautiful and there aren't very many of these out guys out there he was part of my Grandfather's collection and now he's up for adoption. Lol Payment.
