This listing is for a very detailed. Well carved antique wooden Black Forest spill vase from Switzerland. it features two stags beneath a tree. It measures 9.6" tall, and roughly 5.8" across the base. It was used as a spill, as there is no wax residue, and the top edge shows darkness from smoke. Antique Black Forest Wood Carving Sculpture - Mader's Restaurant - Milwaukee WI
This great old hand carved sculpture stands just about 13" tall on a which measures 6 by 8 inches. It's in good condition but does have some flaws and restoration. There is a chip off the woman's foot and the bow in back of her dress. But the worst damage is in the neck area where her head was re-attached. Even with these flaws. However, the sculpture retains its strong European flavor and historic import. Dealer scuttlebutt traces the carving to the World Famous Mader's restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the end of Prohibition in 1933. And the rabbit is in a hunched over position, now when you push the button in, it starts the string pull mechanics in motion. The bear moves back and holds the camera up to his eye and into position to take a picture of the rabbit.The rabbit also takes a move back ward and upright as if possing for the camera. I think its just aborable. Notice that underneath the push buttom someone painted a white dot, you can see part of the dot in some of my pics and the last picture. Bought at the estate of a retired military man this is a highly detailed wood carved man with backpack. He is wearing a hat and has a flask around his waist. He is weary looking and resting against a tree stump. This piece is quite large measuring 19 inches tall and 7 inches wide. Here for auction is what I believe to be a vintage Black Forest wood carving. This stands approx 6" tall and is a figure of a bearded older man. It appears to be in very good condition although I really have no idea as to its age. it came from an older estate from a box full of quite old items. Nicely carved with nice colors to it. Interestingly it has a woven fabric or straw rather at the base that is then lined with an intricate blue cloth and also some gold trim. I see no makers mark anywhere. Offered for sale is this exquisite German Black Forest wood carving"Squirrel on tree trunk" The squirrel is grabbing a little animal on its left front claws and the right front claws are grabbing the trunk. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. This great looking hand carved Black Forest Ibex Mountain Goat is in very good antique condition. This handcarved Ibex Mountain Goat measures 12' tall x 6 1/2' wide at the ears and comes off the wall 7 inches. The goat has some drying superficial cracks that are pictured and one horn has had a repair that is also pictured. This Ibex may have been the centerpiece of a large ornate wall plaque but is just a terrific looking head mount now. The Ibex has glass eyes and is a stunning Black Forest piece from Germany. I picked this piece up from a Roman Catholic Priest's collection that went to auction after he passed. I have many other fine Black Forest carvings that I will be listing on Ebay. Vintage German Black Forest Wood Carving - Spainiard?
This German carving is full of character! The representative culture is difficult to determine; my best guess is Spain. It is hand carved from what appears to be a single piece of wood. The piece has an intriguing natural wood grain. The wood is solid and a heavy 3 lbs. He stands 17" tall and has a width-wise 7" base. There is a"natural appearing" cross-grain wood crack on the base. Behind his right foot(see images) The lantern is intact. The long handled axe appears to have bee taped in its center, to repair a crack or separation. It is a good repair job and the handle is firm. There are s few surface scrapes, which to not affect the integrity of the wood and can be easily removed(see images of back side cape"nape of neck" and left calf" There are not any dings or broken off wood pieces. For sale is an antique Black Forest Wood Carving. From around 1859 to the early 1960's. The carving is of 2 men hugging or dancing. And obviously drinking.One has a stein. What makes this a very rare is the man on the right. Has military clothing. He is wearing A French Zouave. Hat and leather chap's or Gaiter's. These were uniform. Parts worn during the Franco Austrian War of 1859. Zuave's were French soldier's sent to Austria. After the war the Zouave Soldier's were stationed at Versallies. They are standing over an Edelweiss flower. Austria's national flower.This makes me think that it's a carving. Representing a Peace Treaty Celebration. You can see a spot of white where the flowers were painted. The entire West side of the Black Forest Region is the. French boarder. Some extra homework told me the leather ... morechap's.
