This carving of a happy fisherman carrying a tray of fish and smoking a pipe is a signed Henning. Henning is branded/burned into bottom. Made in Norway. He stands 8" tall. Only flaw is a small chip on the back underside of his boot strap. I did not even notice this until I was taking the photo of the signature. Displays wonderfully. Nice and clean. The carving is wonderful- capturing the Medieval. Spiritual quality of the unique Stave Churches as the spire points upward. In very good vintage condition with no chips or stains. There are some minor separations to the wood in a few places. Alas. One of the side"spires" has been lost in the vicissitudes of time- but the previous owner, in a gesture of national pride, added a Norwegian flag, to fill the gap. Offered is a vintage Danish Modern hand carved wooden Viking figure that measures 7 inches tall by 3" long from side to side at its largest point by 1.5" wide from front to back. The piece is in good used condition.I see that the Viking's sword is broken and missing.Only a metal pin. Which I assume is an old attempt at repair, remains.Please see the photos provided.Otherwise, I see no additional missing parts, stains, chips, cracks, signs of excessive use or abuse or damages of any kind. These are 2 Old Vintage or Antique early to mid century Norwegian Norway Hand Carved all wood Figurines of an Old Man Troll Hunter from folklore. and a very shy(or should I say sly? Troll. The Estate broker told me that they are early century hand carved by a famous carver named Henning Engelsen who did carved figurines. The Troll stands at just short of 8" and the Bearded Old Man with a stick stands about 10" I was told that they were purchased in Oslo Norway at a antique/ salvage shop over 40 years ago and kept in a curio cabinet.
