Up for auction is a small round vintage hand painted Florentine tole tray. The tray has a design of pale aqua and gold gilt. It also has small red dots on the design. It has a scalloped edge. There are no markings on the back of the tray. But I believe it was made in Italy. This vintage pre-owned tray has wear from age and use. The design in the center of the tray has a small amount of wear. But there are a lot of chips on the front and back scalloped edges and on the back of the tray. This is a vintage. Gold gilt florentine magazine holder. Recently purchased at an estate sale, I am unsure of it's age. It is unmarked. In good, used and vintage condition, there are a few issues worth mentioning. Most importantly, there is a small dent and crack in the wood on one of the bottom edges. This can be seen in the second picture. In addition, it looks like there is another hairline crack on one of the feet. I can't tell if it is a manufacturing thing of a flaw. Finally, the entire piece has some paint loss and some small chips. The rack measures about 14 1/2" across, 17" tall and 7" deep. Still very pretty, it will make a useful addition to any room. Shabby Italian Florentine Vintage Tole Wood Romantic Couple Jewelry Trinket Box
This lovely antique Florentine trinket box has been in the family for many years. It was a gift to my great aunt when she moved to New York from Italy. It is in excellent. Clean condition for its age. The technique used to make this box is more laborious than others you might find today. The wood box is prepared. A layer of gesso is brused on and a layer of deep red base paint. The red base paint is used to being out the rich color of the gold leaf. The raised designe is a glue gesso mix, a little thicker than Elmer's glue, and hand applied. Once dried a layer of tacky glue is brushed on and the gold leaf is then applied to that. Often a coat of wax is rubbed on, or tinted varnish, to protect the gold leaf and give it an antiqued look. I'm very fond of this piece. But it's time to downsize and this gem needs a new home. Vintage Italian Shabby Gilt Tole Wood Boy/Court Scene Pictures Florentine Chic
This is a set of small Italian vintage wood pictures that my parents bought on one of their many trips to Italy. The pictures have wood frames and are under glass measuring 3 inches round by ½ an inch thick. The frames have nice rich gilt paint with incised accent lines and dots. The back is covered with paper and they are stamped“Made in Italy. They have the original hangers on the backs. They are very dainty and late 18th. century style pieces. They are at least 30 years old and in good condition. The one with the royal court scene has two small spots where the gold paint has worn off on the side of the frame: at 1 o'clock and 4 o'clock. It cannot be seen from the frontal view. Gilt wood carved and marked Made in Italy The outside of the frame measures 6 inches by 7 inches. There is no glass and no backing and the inside measurement is a 4 by 5 inch with rounded corners. This is a vintage Italian Florentine wooden box that has hand painting and gold gilding. The scene features a group of cherubs dancing around a tree and several in the tree as well as women and cherubs playing in the background. It's a beautiful and detailed picture which is printed and glued onto the box. The box has floral detail edging on the top and repetitive motifs around the edges on the rest of the box. The color is a deep green and gold metallic gilding that has been washed with an antique finish. The box has a metal hinge and is varnished wood on the inside. There is a paper card that says"This Italian wooden article is hand-crafted in Florence gold leaf is applied to the prepared wooden surface. Which is then decorated and burnished by hand in keeping with the traditional Florentine mediaeval process. There is also a sticker ... moreon the bottom of the box. The size of the box is approximately 6 1/4" wide x 4 3/8" tall x 1 7/8" deep. It is in outstanding condition with only a few minor chips to the green coloring on the top and sides of the box. The box is hinged and the inside of the prayer box has a picture and a simple prayer The prayer box is made in Italy.
