There are some ships in the paint that I believe just adds to its shabby yet still chic cottage style charm. I had this chandelier hanging in my daughters room for the past 12 years and it worked perfectly. However. As with all used electrical items, it would probably be a good idea to have them looked over and fitted in your home by a competent electrician. I have shown the chandelier in the photos with the custom clip on lamp shades that I had used in my daughters room. GORGEOUS FRENCH TOLEWARE Obtained at estate sale. Date unknown, but it is old. Hand painted. Deep red with bronze trim and embellishments on rims and back. And surrounding a scene depicting three people at a waterfall. Two animal shaped fountains and woodlands. It measures 11" L x 8.5" W x 4.5" H. The inside has some surface rusting. Which appears to have been treated with some sort of protectant-itis green in color. The rusting does NOT penetrate through to the outside. It is a good solid piece. It is absolutely beautiful!

Front floral paint design is looks very good. On the side near bottom there is a slight rough area about the size of the palm of a hand on the metal surface and small amount of paint wear in this area and near the very bottom rim(see photo) bottom looks ok to me, minimal wear, upper top rim shows a couple of areas of small indent areas where metal is slightly turned in- not serious in my opinion but needed to mention will be sold as is. It is a beautifully handpainted enameled ware teapot or kettle that stands approximately 10" tall and 8" around the belly. The shape is called Louis Phillipe because that was the period it was made. Approximately 170 years ago. It has a raised floral design that is in remarkable shape considering how old it is. The interior shows its real age, however. There is a lot of rusting on the inside so it would have to be for decorative purposes only. Please see photos for greater detail. Country of Manufacture: France. Age: Circa 1930-1948. French toleware monteith style cache pot mustard yellow hand painted landscape
About 6 inch di ameter round handpainted French cachepot or planter or monteith. Lion handles, very good condition, currently used for silk flower arrangement which is not included. This is very old. Very wonderful, and I've had it a long time. The highest part of the scalloped edge is almost 5 inches. If you don' t know what a monteith was. It was a con t ainer filled with ice into which wine glasses were placed upside down to keep the bowls cold. Monteiths themse lves are very expensive and hard to find. This is the precise s tyle of a mont eith. However, you would not be able to fi t very many glasses in here. So I think it's just a st yle that was copied for a plan ter. A mont eith always has a scalloped edge. The landscape painting on the front is extr aordina ry and the black. Mustard and gold makes this piece outstanding ... morein a room. Antique French Tole Painted Crackled Finish Toleware Paper Mache Washtub Basin
Up for auction is this rather unusual Antique basin or washtub believed to be of French origin and constructed of paper mache resulting in a very sturdy and waterproof item. This wonderful item was purchased some years back from a retired antique dealer's private collection. We did not really know where to list it and chose the toleware category for the whimsical hand painted scenes depicted on the tub. Bright beautifully colored medieval period dancing figures on a teal blue crackled background. Inside of tub has a crackled brown tone finish. Measures 17" wide x 14" deep x 7.5" high. This is a truly rare find: a shabby chic antique enamelware or granite ware or if you like tole ware rack from just after the turn of the century. Once upon a time nearly every French home had one hanging near the cooking stove. Ladles and skimmers hung from them handily at arms reach and the large bottom tray would catch any drips keeping the kitchen surfaces clean. Blue and White is the color of choice for most french kitchens and this tool rack was designed to fit right in with that scheme. It measures 19 inches tall by 12 inches wide and the tray extends about 4 inches. Although originally designed for kitchens I have seen them used here in France in bathrooms as a practical towel. Soap and shampoo holder. Overall it is in very good shape with just a small amount of wear around the edges. Measuring approximately 16" x 20" The tray is quite heavy and the black background paint, as well as some of the gold gilt leaves(which almost look like"gold leaf" have a bit of"alligatoring" to them due to the old age of the tray. Besides the bits of"crackle" here and there, I really did find no paint loss, ... moreother than some flea bits sized flakes which are barely worth mentioning. The remnants of the original paper sticker(or price tag) is still attached to the back of the tray. NO rust. Dents, dings or scratches. There are some curious faint"ring" impressions here and there on the surface of the tray- From somethiing heavy being set on it for long periods of times- decades?
