EARLY PRIMITIVE FOLK ART TOLEWARE PAINTED STENCILED TIN TRAY ROLLED HANDLES
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 OLDER TOLEWARE PAINTED STENCILED TRAY ROLLED HANDLES This is a real nice older tray that measures 12 ½” from left to right and 8” from top to bottom. It is also is about 1 1/8” deep. The handles left and right are circular rolled under. Please refer to the scan of the underside for reference. The stenciled design in cream. Green and red paint on both left and right sides is beautiful and carries over along the top and bottom sides. There appears to be an under wash of a copper color that shows through the paint in various areas and quite a lot on the reverse side. The piece of older tape on the reverse mentions the fact that at one time the piece had four balled feet, one at each corner. These however are no longer present. The character of the tray does not suffer with them missing. ... moreThe seams of the tin are tight with the exception of one ¾”slight split in the tin seam running from the base of the tray diagonally to the top corner. Nothing really serious. There are a couple of older light scratches in the base area. A great addition to any Toleware, Tole, Tin Painted Tin, Tableware, Primitive or Americana collection. ANTIQUE 19c OHIO TOLE TOLEWARE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE COFFEE POT UNIQUE SPIRAL TOP
It's real old and has been well used.There's as much weight in solder in this as tin and it even has a patch on the inside.There's not any dents in it and it's not rusted out but it's has been repaired in several places with what looks like different kinds of solder from different eras of repair.I'm not sure if the copper bottom came with it originally or not.It could have possibly been added to it or it could have been made that way.I'm just not sure.From looking inside of this I'm sure it was red originally.The brown painted backround has a textured feel to it and it's been beautifully hand painted by someone who was a very talented artist.The metal piece that holds the lid on permantly is broken but it will stay on and go up and down without a problem because theres enough of it left to easily take the ... moretop on and off.It has a unique spiral on the lid.I havn't seen another top like it and wish I knew who made it.It's 11 1/4" tall and the base is 6 1/2" wide.This was purchased at a antique shop in Ohio by a relative back in 1942 and was recently rediscovered in a box wrapped in a newspaper from 1975.The paint job on this is in excellent condition and was like this when it was purchased so it was painted over 70 years ago.It's water based paint and is really balanced.It just has several holes that have been repaired with solder.It's a neat unique piece of history and artwork but just don't have a place for it that's why it's for sale.This is a one and done ad as far as relisting it is concerned.If it doesn't sell I'm going to wrap it back up in the same newspaper and put it away in the same box for my grandchildren and hope they will appreciate it.I'm charging a flat rate of $20 to properly pack and ship this with $300 worth of insurance.If you have any questions just ask.

A man on the other end with a dog and a child in front of the cart of apples. Incredible 19th century tole painted folk art primitive box with original paint. This measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 5 1/2" and features a tufted upholstered padded black silk upper lining The exterior has a wonderful original handpainted old finish depicting a flower and leaf motif front and a swan on one side. The lid is delicately trimmed and bears the monogram F.A.H. The most appealing aspect of this box is the patriotic eagle with a stars and stripes decorated shield on the side. Very folky. The bottom shows square head nails used to construct this unique old box. Old lock intact but box was found without a key. Extremely charming accent item. Thank you for your interest.

A great piece of Pennsylvania Folk Art from the late 1800's Here are some things that can be known with a fair degree of certainty: it's origins are from the pennsylvania regions. It is from the late 1870/80's to 1910 by the style of painting. The person/s who used the box was right handed due to distinctive wear pattern. A pattern which would be consistent with the age which is approx 100+/10yrs. The base paints of black& red are original and consistent for the period. The paint is only one layer in thickness. The flowers. However, may have been redone/touched up approx 70+ yrs ago. I say this due to lack of similar wear on the flowers. The wear on the tin is consistent with the probable age, but it could be the box was used more than usual. DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert on toleware. Primitive Folk Art Metal Can With Sprinkler Top Hand Painted Toleware
I really don't know what to say about this can. It is interesting. I would call it Folk Art or Toleware. I think it is something an individual has put together and hand painted. It is a metal can. There is tape around the top and I am leaving it there. I do not know why it is there. The sprinkler top fits OK so it is not helping to hold it in. The yellow looking area around the bottom. At first I thought it was tape but now I think it is wax. There is a circle of styrofoam under the bottom. I am not sure what the purpose of that is. There is some paint loss and discoloring. Antique Peter Ompir Toleware Tole Folk Art Painted Document Box with Lid
Wonderful Peter Ompir Folk Art Painted Box. This wooden box box has Mr. Opmir's whimsical character and strawberries painted on it for which he is recognized and known for. The green on the box is the well know green that he uses in his work. Please see the pictures to see where the wood near the top of the box has a crack and where paint has chipped off. Even with the age wear of the box the art and box are still very attractive and collectable. The box measures 15 inches long-9 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep-The box closes smoothly and even. There is a small price sticker on the bottom of the box that I have never removed. The box was purchased in the 1960s and the sticker is most likely from then. The original color of the metal was blue. The background is black on all 4 trays with a general theme of red, white and green throughout the trays. Description: Very nice vintage/ antique Folk Art metal toleware tray. Piece is hand-painted with a bird design against a black background and trimmed in gold. This piece is obviously an unfinished paint-by-numbers piece as there are areas where their are numbers and no paint! PERFECT. Imperfect, incomplete piece of Folk Art! Measurements: 18 15/16" long by 15 1/16" wide. Tray stands 15/16" tall with a hangar on the back. Condition: Piece is well loved. The tin is in good shape with some light wear and some small dents on the bottom rim that does not significantly distract from the overall appearance. They add character. Antique Toleware Serving Tray Steam Engine Railroad Train Folk Art Painting
Large Antique Folk Art Tin Tole ware Serving Tray Steam Engine. Railroad Train, Trestle Bridge. Measures 1" tall X 23 7/8" long X 17 3/8" wide. Large Tin serving tray with a black background. Around the edge are groups of stenciled flowers, Victorian designs and cornucopia in the four corners. In the center pictures a Steam locomotive train, coal car and open passenger cars crossing a river on an old stone train trestle. There are two people up on the engine and coal car, the Engineer& Fireman. The passenger cars are filled with people, men with stove-top hats and women in bonnets. Smoke billows out of the smokestack and a house is silhouetted up on the hill. Each side of the trestle are wispy green trees and golden bushes. There are two open handles on each side. It looks to be a combination of both hand painting and stenciling ... morethat is varnished over. This is in Nice Condition. There are some round marks from something else sitting on it. looks like little round feet from perhaps another tray) and a dime size round shiny spot.
