Two ITALIAN TOLE CANDLEHOLDERS W/ COLORED BIRD AND STRAWBERRIES ITALY
For your consideration are two Italian tole candleholders. Each with one bird eating a strawberry, other strawberries and green leaves. One of the birds is darker than the other and the strawberries on that candleholder are more golden in color than on the other one. The"branches" are also lighter on one than the other. There is a fair amount of candlewax residue on the lighter one. I think it adds to the overall look) Each is about 7" tall and 9 1/2" wide. Each holds two 1" in diameter candles. They are in good vintage condition with some loss of paint on the lighter candleholder's"petals" Italy is stamped into one candleholder"cup" on each one. I am not sure of their age. Tole Ware Bowl Decorated With Pansies And Bird's Nest
The very attractive tole ware bowl is a medium dark cream or ivory color and features yellow. Purple, and dark red pansies, and a brown birds nest filled with speckled blue bird's eggs. It measures nearly 15" in diameter and the sides are 4" high. There are tiny minor surface rust spots which add to the patina. This bowl would look beautiful on a kitchen or country dining room table, on a plate stand, or hanging on the wall. It would also be a beautiful item on a table on a screen porch, holdingf resh fruit or just sitting empty. The imagery really speaks of the outdoors. 4 PRIM Vintage Antique 6" Signed TOLE BIRD TRAYS ~ WARBLER HAWK TANAGER BOBOLINK
Offered for your consideration is this set of 4 hand painted primitive tin Tole trays featuring 4 different birds. Please disregard any glare from my camera. I had a hard time eliminating the flash. There are no white spots. Each tray measures approximately 6~5/8" x 4~5/8" It is my opinion that they have been nicely executed. I would think they are from the earlier 1900's. I don't know their origin but I would guess they are American as they all seem to be birds I have seen. Each has been hand painted and signed CSM All the bordered edges are nicely rolled and the backgrounds are black. The bird names are noted on the back of each tray and are as follows: Scarlet Tanager Myrtle Warbler Night Hawk Bobolink I consider them to be in nice condition with only typical signs of light use. They have no major scratches. Or significant ... morepaint loss. Possibly they were drink trays. I find them quite charming and hope you do too. Perfect for the'Prim' collector: as they each have their own signs of being hand painted and certainly not like they came off an assembly line. Antique VTG Toleware Metal Tray Tole Decorated w/ Bright Bird. Flowers Description. Offered is the old toleware tray shown. This is not a modern reproduction. I have no idea of age. Other than I purchased it at an antique estate auction on the northern edge of Pennsylvania Dutch country. And most of the black background is worn away, indicating a good many years of heavy use. I saw no markings to indicate who made it. Click on the photos to enlarge and inspect for yourself. Your own eyes are your guide. Here and they are with any antique. Condition is good with no flaws that I saw. Other than the wear to the paint. Measures a large 22.5" across. 16.5" tall and about.75" deep.
