Antique Vtg Tole Gold Gilt Metal Rose Pedestal Sawtooth Edge Crystal Bowl Italy
GORGEOUS antique vintage elegant cut crystal bowl with saw tooth edge atop a tole gold gilt metal pedestal adorned with three full bloom roses and leaves. Measures 5 5/8" Tall x 6 1/4" Across the top x 3 1/2" Across the bottom metal ring. FRAME: bottom of metal frame has a large leaf design inside a round ring with a stand in the center. The sepals of the rose are turned downward while the rose flower is upright. The leaves and roses are soldered on to the frame. All elegantly covered in gold leaf gilt in a distress pattern. The roses and the leaves cannot be moved. There is a spacer between the frame and the crystal glass bowl. BOWL: crystal bowl has a large starburst pattern on bottom. Saw tooth edge design is on the outer of rim, the inner part of top is smooth, really unique design. The side panels are beautifully done ... morein a round cut pattern with large X designs between the round pattern. Little metal hangtag on the stem of one of the roses reads: ITALY. Displays beautifully. Perfect piece for just about any room in your home. The frame and bowl do separate. Just unscrew the frame from bowl. A fantastic and quite rare example of a genuine Italian tole document box. Large in size. It measures 8" wide x 5.75" deep x 8.25" tall exclusive of decoration. The metal roses and leaves add to the overall size. Heavy- weighs just under 4 pounds. This is not a traditional painted tin. Lightweight document box. Classic tole metal flowers and leaves decorate the piece. The flower on top is a beautifully formed open rose. Painted a cream color with green leaves and a touch of orange on some of the flowers. Gold. Ball-shaped feet. Arched lid is hinged and opens and closes freely. There is a place for a lock on the front. I'm not sure if it could be used at this point as the lid and base are not perfectly lined up. There is an impressed"ITALY" mark on one of the end panels. Just below the leaf.
