VINTAGE RENZO CARLI TOLE GOLD GILT FLORENTINE FLORAL PAINTED SERVING TRAY UNUSED
An original vintage Renzo Carli hand made serving tray. Many of these trays are produced in Italy but non compare with these from the Renzo Carli Florence workshop. This tray measures 8" across. The well defined 1" with lip border is in orange with gold gilt and very attractive design. This border gives added dimension to the black background center with a beautiful hand painted floral bouquet. This tray has never been used to serve with but only displayed on a wall as decoration. Still retains the original foil sticker of the Company. I have had many of these beautiful Italian made trays and other items in the past but Renzo Carli is by far the best. Most all of my listings are antique. Vintage or used items. For that reason they may have a mark or other imperfection. I will mention any major or other distraction that may affect ... morethe pricing of the item. I will not mention every very minor item individually but refer the item to a grade of condition. Vintage Tole Tray c1920s Papier Paper Mache Florentine Gold Floral
My grandmother had these. She got them for her wedding in the 1920s. I learned, as a young girl trying to be helpful, that you never, ever washed them in a sink filled with warm soapy water. Boy, did I learn. This tray. While not my grandmother's, appears to be of the same vintage. It's in relatively good shape with a small dark mark on the front(see photo number 4) a space on a corner where someone used a gold enamel pen to try to fill in some missing design, and a crack on the back measuring approximately one inch long. The crack does not go through to the front. Some of the edges show some chipping as well although they aren't visible until you are actually holding the tray. In all this is a great representation of tole trays from that era and in good shape considering its age. The paper is in a typical Florentine design. Absolutely stunning vintage gilt. Cream and toleware 2 drawer serpentine front jewelry dresser chest. This has that wonderful aged appeal of mellowed cream with blues, reds, greens in varying shades of ageing. There looks like there had been a leg broken or loose and repaired. However it stands solidly and none are loose. The gilt is worn and there is chipping of the under coat of plaster which is visible in the photos. This is simply charming with impressed beading and lace textures in the gilt around the floral toleware and along corners and edges. Made in Italy imprinted on the bottom. 6 3/16" in height and widest width is 8 5/8" across back. 4 3/4" in depth at front bow. The tiny tacks or nails are also showing thru as can be seen in photos.
