Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration Wire Handle
This is an Antique Tin Document Box with Tole Paint Toleware Decoration. The box has a Wire Handle on the top. The hinged lid tin box has the black oxidation to the tin base and interior which signifies an antique piece of tin ware. The tole paint toleware decoration is later to the box and possibly dates to about the 1950-60's when tole ware painting was very popular as a craft. Someone did an outstanding job painting this box with delft brush strokes and excellent grasp of how to use the tole painting brushes. The skilled painting was done by someone who knew what they were doing. Also the artist used antique tole ware designs and patterns to decorate the box. The box was not varnished either so it has that matte look to resemble the 19th century tin tole painting. The tin box also displays beautifully. It measures 8" wide. 4" ... moredeep and 5" tall. Description: EXCEPTIONAL. Early 19th Century TIN DOCUMENT BOX, in Original condition. CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC FLORAL DECORATION. Done in a classic TOLEWARE Style, is still 90% or better complete, better than I have ever found in this area. ALL ORIGINAL. The colors of Turquoise, Red, and Yellow, though now muted with age, are still relatively bright. Many of these old Tin boxes were faded over the years, or worn, so were then handpainted over the decoration. This one is ALL ORIGINAL, and has never been altered or painted over. Even the TRIM lines are still relatively complete. Again. There is WEAR and muting, but still very very discernible and bright, without being garish. Large-domed lid still has most of the golden TRIM around it. Even the golden DECORATION around the top handle is still nearly complete. SIZE: Approx 9 1/2" long. 8 3/4" ... morehigh. Not counting handle. 6 1/8" deep. CONDITION: Very very good. Best I have ever had. HOWEVER, the LATCH is MISSING. I can pick up by handle and it stays closed, when EMPTY. One small, 1" sep at back. Neat Old Black w/ Gold Tole Painted Box This auction is for a nice old primitive tin tole painted document box. These boxes were used to lock up important papers. It is made of tin. And is painted black with gold trim and the initials S T R. It has a handle, and can be locked with your own lock. It has been well used as shown in the pictures. Antique Tin Box Tole Painting: Bread Box or Picnic Chest, German Made Rare 1800s
This fabulous tin box is such a pretty mint green color. Unusual for a box of its type. Made in Germany, probably in the late 1800s, I've been trying to decide its original use. At 16" X 8-1/2" X 4" deep it seems a little large for a document box. With a lot of research I haven't been able to find another one just like it but because of others that I found even somewhat similar, the vents in the back and the ridged interior bottom I am feeling reasonably confident in calling it a breadbox or picnic chest. The bottom is marked"Germany" and above that what I believe may be an importer's mark that I've been unable to identify. It may be"KL, Inc. N.Y. or"KLINC. N.Y. but I couldn't find any reference to either one. It is definitely in shabby condition with a great deal of light surface rust. ... moreDust and several areas of paint loss. The interior, remarkably, is less rusted than I would expect with the greatest concentration of rust in the crevices. There are no dings or dents. I have not done any clean up as I didn't want to disturb its already fragile patina. Use it as is as a decorative piece hearthside or on a porch or restore it for the bathroom, boudoir, kitchen or any room in the house. The possibilities are endless. This is a very unique and decorative pan. May be French in origin, and it is from the mid 1800’s, and quite rare(museum quality) With an exceptionally colored floral painted design and white trim. The entire body inside and out of pan is black, with hardly any wear. It was probably hung mostly as decorative. As it has a lovely design with unique pan shape and twisted metal handle. Pan measures 12 side length. 7 front length, 9 deep, 4 ½ wide at opening down to a pointed cone. The handle is 26” long and about 11” at its widest point connecting to the dust pan. This Lovely Vintage Black Tole Lamp- punctuated with Golden feature accents- is another beautiful Estate find in great condition. It stands about 20” Tall– measured to the top of its Tole shade as pictured. The Black/Gold Shade has a Bottom Surface Diameter of about 10 ½” and it is about 6” High. The Base Diameter of the Lamp is about 5” As you can see from the pictures. It is in fine working condition. The wiring seems to be good. The Tole Shade sits upon a White Milk Glass Globe. There are two little“screws” that you can loosen to remove it for cleaning or shipping. The White Milk Glass Globe is also in fine condition as is the cream colored interior of the tole shade. I think it is probably a 3-Way Lamp although I only have a regular bulb in it so I cannot say for sure since I don’t have a 3-Way Bulb to try it with. However, when I turn it on, nothing happens on the first turn– the light goes on with the 2 nd turn– there is also a 3 rd turn but nothing happens with the regular bulb that is currently in it. It is approx.11" x 5" x 5" The two trays that were inside measure approx. 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, and 4 12 x 6 1/2 inches. This is in good antique condition, some patina and rubbing of the gilding and a few lacquer flakes, but nothing not considered natural for an item of this age, the trays are in very good condition, having been wrapped in paper and stored within the canister for many years, and they would be a wonderful addition to any collection. Early 19th century japanned tin toleware bread tray or basket with original asphaltum painted surface. Decoration is strikingly similar to examples from the Filley tinshop in Philadelphia. Entirely hand crafted with edges rolled over wire. Paint loss to bottom and inside center as expected. Border-yellow. Salmon, green and blue-green on a grey-white band-is in very good condition with minimal loss. 13" long x 8" wide. 3 1/4" high, largest measurements.

This is a very old Antique Tole Painted Tin Pin. It is round and measures 1.75" It is hand painted in a floral bouquet of pink& purple tulips. Green leaves and pussy willows on a lavender background and white edges. It has a pin on the back. Very little signs of age with only slight nicks on rim.

AAFA Enormous Antique Grocery Store Tin Box Tole Paint Landscape & Flowers
I have never seen such a gorgeous piece of painted tin! This bin is gigantic- measuring approx 17"in all directions. Less the slanted lid- and in fabulous condition with evidence of gentle use. The panting is masterful and just makes you feel good to look at. A wonderful landscape on the front and floral designs embellishing all the other sides. There is a slant front lid which is raised by means of a little pull. Some denting, bending, loss of the paint. The bottom front is separated from the bottom but secure on the sides. We are offering a nice example of early handpainted tin toleware. It is a bread tray with handpainted fruit on the sides and in the middle of the tray. There is some paint loss on the rt corner of the tray on the inside. The tray measures 12 1/2 in long and 8 1/8 in wide. It is 2 1/8 in deep. The bottom measures 7 1/2 in lohng and 5 1/2 in wide.
