Exquisitely painted. Varnished, and signed by the artist in 1955. Large Tole serving tray with a floral pattern/motif signed by C. Shannon. In excellent condition, especially considering its age. Up for sale is a vintage bread tole tray with a strawberry hand painted design in the center. There is a repeating design along the rim as well. It is found in good used condition with the following condition issues.The paint has worn off a few strawberries and foliage. Primary colors are brown. Red, white and green on a black background. Even with all the wear it has a wonderful folky appearance. The back is black. There is no maker's information. Antique Primitive Tin Toleware Box: Hand Painted, Black, Gold, Early 1900s
This little tin box is about recipe box size at 5-3/4" X 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" deep. It was acquired at an estate sale where all of the items being sold were from the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is hand painted and I believe the tole design is actually stenciled on with gold paint with red shading. The top. As shown in the photo, is a cluster of three cherries; the front and back panels have a swag with a little red flower in the middle; and the end panels have a daisy-like flower. The black paint job is not first rate: there are a few areas where the original drips and brush strokes can be seen and it has now become crazed. This is part of what makes this piece so very charming. The stenciling is mostly intact except for an area of paint loss on the largest cherry. Overall I would consider the box to be in nice condition given ... moreits probable 100+ year age. There are a number of small dents and dings. Nothing of real significance. The lid fits on and off as it should with a small amount of effort. There are a few small areas of paint loss, primarily around the edge where the lid has rubbed; there is one small"blob" of white paint right beneath where the top of the lid ends; and there is some surface rust on the interior including one pin-hole size area where light shows through. This is an estate piece being sold as is. As found. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other storage odors or pets. Lovely antique Chinoiserie watering can was probably made between 1880-1890. The painting is incredibly detailed and has great depth which is hard to see in the photos. The condition of the decoration is also remarkably good for the age of this piece. The body of the watering can is mainly sage with gold banding and olive green at the base. On both sides of the watering can is a floral scene with an Asian character. Fitted between panels and more gold floral decoration. As stated above, the detail in the painting is superb. The handle is well attached and swings smoothly from front to back. Watering can stands 17.5" tall from the base to the top of the upright ... morehandle. Base to finial on the lid is 14.5" Measurement from spout to handle is 14.5" And the diameter of the base is 10" The lid has a cast iron finial and gold banding. The lid fits well. The bottom rim was bent a little. As shown, but the piece stands firmly and does not wobble. This piece is not water tight as a hole has been drilled in the base and through the center of the lid(see photos) Please study the photos as they are part of the description. This is an incredibly lovely antique tray. It is hand painted in a beautiful rose pattern in shades of pink. Peach, apricot with shades of olive green leaves and decorative gold patterns around the border. The overall measurement is 23" by 29" which includes a 4" border. As you can see in the close-up photos. There is some damage to the painting on the front and some scratches to the black on the back. There are no dents. I wish I could find the original manufacturer marking on this piece. But with the painting, I have been unable to see it. Also, decorative cross hatch pattern on handle and on base sides. Antique Pensylvania Dutch Hand Painted Toleware Tin Creamer
This looks like a small coffeepot. But is believed to have been used in the early 1800s as possibly a creamer. It is black with a hand painted Pennsylvania Dutch flower design on both sides. Its handle has a triangle shaped place where it was added to the top of the container. It is 5" tall and 6" wide with handle. Inside width of container is 2 7/8" The hand painted design is in good shape. There are some nicks at the base and at the top. This was found in my parents' estate so no history is known.
