Antique Early 1900's Pull Down Classroom Map of South America
For sale is an incredible antique school wall map of South America that was manufactured in Chicago. Illinois by A.J. Nystrom& Co. This wonderfully aged map is printed on a canvas material and comes with the original metal bracket which still works and is very easy to mount. Due to the fragile nature of the map, it must be removed from the metal bracket to roll it up and down by hand. Have no fear though, it's very easy to do. The original wooden rod is still attached to the bottom of the chart. This map would look great hanging in your library or study or would serve as a great educational work of art in your child's bedroom! Additional details: Measurements(with bracket) Approximately 52.5" Long x 41” wide Circa: 1920's Item Condition: Great antique condition! Colors remain bold and vivid. As noted above. You will need ... moreto roll up/down the map by hand due to its fragile nature. Surface of map has light soilage from years and years of use. Canvas has some normal wear such as wrinkles, bends, frayed edges, light soilage, spotting, etc. The bottom green canvas material is also lightly soiled. There is some very light liquid staining along the upper right and lower left sides of the map. There is also a set of numbers written in pencil on the upper left corner of the map, to the left of Columbia. We tend to think that each of these minor flaws adds to the overall wonderful antique look of this piece. Please take a gander at the pictures for further details.

South America measures 21.5"x 13.5" doubled) is shown and the other side has 2 individual maps of Cuba/Bahama Islands and Europe(single maps are each 11.75'x13.5" The condition of these maps is good and they have some discoloration to the edges. The printed area is clean and fresh; some minor soft creasing and the odd speck; some marks visible in the margins and the right end of the centrefold has a short split not reaching the printed area. Map by the legendary J. G. Bartholomew. Published around 1890. The map has been double mounted ready to frame. With double mount the overall size is 10 inches by 12 inches. The aperture is approximately 6 inches by 8 inches. There is another map on the reverse but that obviously does not show due to the mounting process. The atlas from which this map came was in distressed condition on the outside and some of the maps were loose and damaged but we have only mounted maps in good condition with the mount having been placed in a way that reveals only the very best portions of this very rare item.
