Antique Early 1900's Pull Down Classroom Map of South America
For sale is an incredible antique school wall map of South America that was manufactured in Chicago. Illinois by A.J. Nystrom& Co. This wonderfully aged map is printed on a canvas material and comes with the original metal bracket which still works and is very easy to mount. Due to the fragile nature of the map, it must be removed from the metal bracket to roll it up and down by hand. Have no fear though, it's very easy to do. The original wooden rod is still attached to the bottom of the chart. This map would look great hanging in your library or study or would serve as a great educational work of art in your child's bedroom! Additional details: Measurements(with bracket) Approximately 52.5" Long x 41” wide Circa: 1920's Item Condition: Great antique condition! Colors remain bold and vivid. As noted above. Canvas has some normal wear such as wrinkles, bends, frayed edges, light soilage, spotting, etc. The bottom green canvas material is also lightly soiled. There is also a set of numbers written in pencil on the upper left corner of the map, to the left of Columbia. Antique Stieler's Hand Atlas map of the South Pole dated 1869 and published in the 1871 Hand Atlas. Other than a small water stain at the bottom center edge of border and minor discoloration around border the map is in good condition with no tears. Holes, stains, marks, or other defects. Measurements are 16" x 13 1/2" excluding border. Total size is 18" x 15 1/2" This map is hand painted and provides detailed information on items like exploration routes from cook in 1772 to moore in 1845, ice packs, icebergs, sea lanes, etc. A lot of info on this map can be found if Stieler's Hand Atlas No. 42a is entered into a search bar.
