This interesting pair of carved wood birds. An eagle and raven, appear to be Alaskan, possibly Inuit. The raven is 7 1/2" tall and the eagle is 7 1/4" They are inscribed with initials, which appear to be"TG" or possibly"TCT" They are nicely carved and finished and painted with a sort of wash of dark gray and black. The eagle is in excellent condition, with a couple faint scratches, shown in close-ups. The raven is excellent with the exception of what appear to be chew marks on his beak, also shown in close-up photos.

They each stand at 2 feet tall by 8" wide by 4" deep. Bright coastal colors of green with orange legs. Really nice detail in the painting with the feathers. One has felt on the bottom. The other one does not. Original sticker still on it. There is only one small chip at the top of one of the tails(see photo) You can't really see it unless you look for it. *EXTREMELY RARE* PAIR OF GERMAN CARVED WOOD FURNITURE DECORATIONS - 16TH CENTURY
Up for sale is a very rare and spectacular pair of hand carved wood elements from a no longer existing piece of furniture. They date from about circa 1550- 1590's. They are originally from a piece of furniture in the Rhineland of Germany. As you can see from the pictures they are alike except for the knights carved on the very top. The middle figure is Plutto and the bottom figure is a Satre from mythology. These are great. They measure 16 and 1/2" tall x 2 and 1/4" wide. A former owner drilled hangers in the back as pictures show. They are in terrific shape for their age. One has some damage to the top around the knight. But, the knight is not damaged(see last picture) There is the normal cracks here and there but nothing that takes away from the beauty and craftsmanship. Price has been lowered. These birds are awesome. Too bad the person I got them from was just whacking them around. The wood has a gesso type coating which is painted. This is very fragile and is missing some. Both have surface damage. I showed the worst bird up close. The wood that is showing is old. They are on iron legs. Which is also coated/painted. They are quite sturdy and stand 14 inches tall, with glass eyes. The bottom of the bases have paper labels that read- Made in India $59.99- and some numbers. I don't know much about this pair of Large Wood Finials. Found them at an Estate Sale and thought they were cool. I believe they are handcarved. Solid wood, but am not sure of what type. I was never good at identify trees once they were cut down. One of them has a drilled hole in the bottom. But the other one doesn't. One is 10" Tall and one is 10 1/2" Tall. Definitely handmade. They were attached to a head board the tails were cut down because the were to long. and the would not fit in a army foot locker. They twisted over a cameo of a person wearing a crown, later in the 1950's the tails were repaired, my father bought them in 1953 and passed them down to me, The piti palace has lions on the out side walls near the gates these resemble them, so i think that they are very close to the 14 or 15th century.
