Here is the process the way we do it at European Bronze. Original Art The beginning of the process starts with something to represent what the customer wants as a finished piece. It can be a clay model as in the illustration above. It can be a sculpted or molded wooden model. Something done in metal, something done in wax or any other material that you want to use to begin the process. This becomes the model for the final piece. Making the Mold Molds can be simple or complex depending on the original art. After determine how best to make a mold or molds. We take the original like the one in the previous photograph and create the mold using a silicone material. The original art is placed on a bed of clay(the red material in the photo) When the clay is smooth at the parting point of the mold, liquid silicone is brushed onto the model and the clay as the man is doing above. Ancient Bronze Finger Ring Viking Settlement Baltic
Here is an authentic Viking ring from the 9th- 12th century. It was found by a metal detector in an ancient Viking settlement along the Baltic Sea in Latvia. The ring is about a size 7- large enough to fit on the pinky of a man as you can see on the finger of my male model. When you wear ancient bronze rings or bracelets. Viking or Merovingian ZOOMORPHIC decorated bronze sheet belt part ?
A most interesting fragment from a bronze belt? or similar embellished piece. It is decorated with a representation of zoomorphic animal faces. the piece is@ 1 1/2 inches wide and 4 inches long, although it is only a short section, what remains of this belt is in solid condition and the decoration is clearly visible to the naked eye. The pattern probably covered the whole belt, it is formed by a series of punched dots. The dots are very small, struck with a fine sharpened point, they do not pierce the bronze only leave an embossed mark. The animal heads are distinct, but i cant identify what they represent. Many zoomorphic designs represent specific creatures but others are generic creatures just to form a pattern. this was found in the south of France in the languedoc region which is west towards the Pyraneese mountains. From the style i ... moream inclined to think that this could be Merovingian in origin. It is similar to viking designs but seems to be from an earlier period, where it was found is a known centre for Merovingian culture so this could also be an indication of it's origin. An interesting item, worthy of further research, i have drawn on a piece of paper as near as i can what the design is incase the photographs do not show it clearly. Window or Trim Ring w Glass, Wilcox Crittenden#3 Up for your consideration is this Wilcox Crittenden Bronze Boat or Ship Ring which may be a porthole. Window, or trim ring. I am not familiar with nautical items so I am guessing.I have six of these and they all came with glass which look to be two pieces of glass stuck together, not sure if that is normal practice. Each glass section has discoloration, foggy in the center and what looks like the remains of glue between the two pieces of glass. The bronze ring and glass were sold to me as pairs which makes me think they are some kind of window or viewing section but I cannot be sure. The rings are bronze with the a weathered patina and remains of white paint. Each one has four holes for attaching to the boat or ship, ... morethey have a flat bottom portion and slightly rounded top. Marked on the back"WC" and"3" The WC is for Wilcox Crittenden Co. who were makers of nautical hardware out of CT. I am unsure of the age of these pieces, but they do show age. The bronze ring measures 6 3/4" in diameter at the outer edge and the inner opening has a 5" diameter, each of the holes are 6 1/4" across from the other(center) The glass is 5 3/4" diameter and 1/8" thick.
