Norwegian Acanthus Carved Wood Mug Tankard
This is a beautifully carved Acanthus style wood mug or tankard from Norway. It was brought from Norway in the 1950's. We are unsure of exactly when it was made. It is lined with tin and looks like it has never been used. The depth and detail of the carving is very intricate. Measures 5 1/2" tall by 5 1/4" across including handle(which is 1 1/2" thick) A really nice find.

This a very old tankard cup or mug copper and appears to have cast iron some type of iron handle. It has Aged extremley well. Near Museum quality in our opinion and look at the shape. Slight underglaze darkening but glaze beautiful. gorgeous loop hangle with thumbrest. Lid immaculate. Hinge immaculate. Original gold lines on rails bordering collar almost completely cleaned off but an easy restoration. Magnificent the way it is. There seems to be the slightest rub of the lid on the backside shoulder edge and a nick. Perhaps but otherwise, near museum quality to me. The glaze on the top edge of the tankard looks poured on. Image 12 shows the depth of the glaze and crackling depth. Polychromic Hand colored transfer of a stylized water bird ... moreresembling a Great Blue Heron wading in flowered wetlands decorating each side of syrup body has great color and is in beautiful condition. Interesting thumb lever appears to be styled or formed as the back of a book and is serrated in a chevron on the thumb side for a sure grip while pouring. Stands 6 1/2" to the top edge of the slim tankard. And 8" to the finial on beautiful conical lid. Handsome slim tankard form with beautiful classic loop handle with great thumbrest. You will not find many of these around in this condition. Stamped"BENNETT'S/ JAN 23. 1873/ PATENT" I would be interested in the patented feature or innovation represented by that patent. Magnificent slim tapering form. Great loop handle, outstanding lid and outstanding condition make this one you will REALLY LIKE. We cleaned the exterior. Inside is very clean. Up for bid is an early Dutch tin-glazed pottery tankard with a pewter lid. Almost certainly 18th century, likely Delft. The piece is 6 ½ inches tall to the top of the thumbpiece, and 5 inches from handle tip to spout. The body is a buff-colored pottery, painted in a thick crackly blue and glazed over. A shield-shaped reserve in the front has double bird heads and reads“1/2/ KAN/ S” The piece has its original thin pewter lid with thumbpiece, hinged to a band of pewter clamped around the top of the handle. The lid is faintly engraved with a Roman numeral“XI” or“IX” Condition on the piece is fair. There are several small patches where the glaze has chipped away. Namely on the spout and handle. There is a fairly large interior chip with a hairline glaze crack down into the interior. Up for auction is a nice Antique K& G Luneville France 14" Tankard/Pitcher. The piece measures 14" tall. Has a 7" base and weighs 4 pounds. There is one major flaw in the piece, in that the handle was once broken and repaired. Please look at the pictures. The tankard can be picked up by the handle normally. The low starting price reflects the repaired handle. Besides the handle the piece is in good condition with no other chips or cracks. There is some minor crazing and gold loss around the upper rim. The soldered Tin Tankard was Tinsmith made and has no damage or repairs. The black background and all decoration is done in original Paint! 2 Antique Asian Pewter Tankard Steins with Engraved Dragons - Used
This auction is for a pair of pewter tankards that were made in China. One is stamped on the pewter bottom. MENG KEE, and the other is stamped on its pewter bottom, SWA TOW. These are antiques but the exact age is unknown. They belonged to my husband's parents and we are unsure where they purchased them. It is possible they were purchased in China Town or they could have been purchased by my father-in-law when he was overseas. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and passed away December 4th. Up for your consideration is this Antique English Pewter Tankard/Mug. It is 5" tall x 4 1/2" across from the handle to the lip, x 4 1/4" across the bottom. There are no dings or dents in the b ody. Howe ver the underneath of the drinking rim seems to flare in and out in spots. I don't know if this is common from possi ble use. And I do think it co uld be tucked back under the top lip. Howe ver at this stage. It adds character with age as we ll as the patina that developes with age. Here is a Vintage hand-colored Burleigh Ware Tankard/ Mug(Burgess& Leigh) Made in Burslem, England, c1940s-1950s. The company began creating pottery with transfer patterns that were then color enhanced by hand in 1940. This is an older piece of that pottery. The tankard is in exceptional vintage condition. No hairlines. Chips, cracks or repairs. Really fine. There is slight discoloration around the outer edges of the interior base circle, which may be removable. Everything else here is mint. I did not try to clean the piece as I do not want to alter the vintage condition in any way. The Hallmark is the beehive mark. C1940. The scene is labeled Old Coach House- Woolhampton. The art was created by transferring the pattern to the tankard. And then individually coloring the pattern by hand. The Tankard is one of the nicest quality period examples I have seen. The Tankard has both blue and white decor. Along with a famille rose figural and iron red bird scenic panels. The Tankard is also finely carved throughout the white porcelain with a superb butterfly and floral scenic designs. This type of quality would indicate the Tankard is an earlier Qianlong piece that was much more time consuming to have produce than later examples. The Tankard with some wear and a couple small restored chips to the top rim. But overall for its early age the tankard is in good and very presentable original condition with no major losses, or other damages. The Tankard is a nice Large size example and displays beautifully measuring 5-1/2 inches tall by 6-1/4 inches wide across the handle or 4-1/4 inches wide across the top. It is an OLD PEWTER TANKARD nicely engraved on the front MUDGE'S INHALER& in the same style on the base Wm BARNES Maker 6 Water Lane(now Whitefriars Street) Fleet Street. There is also a BARNES TOUCHMARK inside the base as well. BARNES was a PEWTERER active in the 1770/80's in LONDON. Indeed during my research there was no trace of him at this address by 1794 nor 1800 respectively. This type of inhaler was invented by Dr MUDGE in 1778 but not PATENTED and although he encouraged you to buy the Barnes example there are other makers as well. The tankard is of classic balluster shape with a domed lid and wide flat rim. The body of the tankard has a flared top rim above gently curving sides and a round spreading pedestal base. The tankard has a superb pierced thumbpiece and a flat backed tapering scroll handle with elaborate shield terminal. The lid and the body of the tankard are remarkably chased in high relief and in incredible detail. The lid of the tankard has cottages aith a walking path and fence leading up to a pond to the centre. The body of the tankard has superb chased farmers cutting the stalks of wheat. One on his knees tying the wheat into bundles, the other with a scythe in his hand cutting the crop. There is a dog, a jug and cup, sacks and a walking stick on the ground below them and a stream flowing under a bridge. The stream meanders through the handle to the other side of the tankard where there is a gentleman in hat and suit with waistcoat spreading seeds from his hand with a gate and fencing to the back and a sieve. So here's the story with this mug- It's an antique Zell. Marked on the bottom and the owner that gave it to me got it from his folks. They had made a note on the bottom(in sharpie? years ago that says"Grandpa brought from China in 1906 stole from German Embassy" I think it's fascinating! That's quite a legacy for Grandpa to leave. Eh? It's thick ceramic. The Zell mark is a little faint. So it's difficult to date but I feel pretty safe stating that it's antique since it was stolen 106 years ago. 6 inches high. It widens at the base and measures 4 1/8 inches wide in diameter The handle is sturdy. No cracks or repairs There is a small hole(drilled or from the mold) in the top of the handle It's marked 3/4 L near the lip. The base has some chips along the edge. Antique Mug/Tankard Three Musketeers???
Very old porcelain tankard/mug. I was told it was from the early 1800's. A friend of mine is an auctioneer and said he has never seen one like this. I am by far not an expert so please let the pic's be your judge. Stands 4-1/2" tall heavy with three men on the front-I think they look live muskeeters or buccaneers? Has a tree like handle has age to it there is one minute crack where the pen is pointing to but not really bad. Blue grey stoneware German stein- I know this pottery piece is older– pre WWII. But I do not know the exact age, nor the maker. It could be an antique piece. But I am not an expert in this area. I have given close up of the marks on the bottom. It also has a hole on top of the handle. This hole does not go through the handle. I believe this would indicate that this stein once had a top lid. The tiny dot is right in the middle edge at the bottom in the photo above. Very tiny Condition: Very Good. No chips. No cracks. There is a tiny flea bit or manufacturing flaw on the bottom of the mug. Close to invisible- even on the base it is a dot. Markings are strong. The cobalt blue is a deep– glaze and colors very good. Also, clean inside even though the photo looks dark. The brown dot on the handle was a piece of dirt- no brown dot on side of handle. Well packaged will weigh over 1 pound. But under 2 pouonds. Antique Gaudy Welsh Tankard Shaped Small Mug, Chinoiserie' Scenes
Gaudy Welsh was a cottage industry. Whenever one finds one of these original pieces that were not mass produced. It's bound to be different than all the others. On this one, an"oriental" gentleman and child are shown walking their birds. The child has a top knot, and the gentleman has a typical cone shaped hat, long beard and Oriental style costume. On the reverse, a single figure in a garden and a bird on the wing across the sky. Chinoiserie is the influence of oriental art on the western cultures. It is a French term, that signifies styles in use since the late 1600's reflecting the Chinese artistic influences. Fanciful imagery is used, of an imaginary China, with a mixture of Eastern and Western stylistic elements for both the decoration and shape. Copper lustre accents the panels on the mug, decorated in a rich deep ... moreblue. It was hand painted in the Staffordshire or Swansea district of England. The production was called a cottage industry because undecorated wares were delivered to areas, where villagers took them home and decorated them to earn wages. This is a nice example. This beautiful tall hand blown glass pitcher is hand painted with attractive dogwood flowers. It is 11.5" tall& 7" wide. From grandmother's estate c. 1900"s and in very good condition with no chips. Possibly a German or Austrian made item. Only a short tight crack above the handle which may be a factory error in heating& fusing the handle. Has muted gold trim around the spout. The color of the base is light cranberry asending to clear glass with dogwood blooms. You will love this wonderful piece!

Wonderful ANTIQUE VINTAGE IRIDESCENT GLASS PITCHER TANKARD & 3 GLASSES! NICE
This is a very pretty vintage iridescent glass pitcher and glasses. The pitcher is a lovely wavy design with a bubble bottom secition. It has an applied handle with a blue/ black tint to it. The body of the pitcher has an amber iridescent glow. The three glasses are a clear glass with a rainbow iridescent look to them. They have the same wavy design but are a clear instead of amber color. All the pieces are in very good condition. No chips or cracks. There are a couple minor spots of wear in the iridescent covering. The pitcher is made of solid. Sturdy glass while the glasses are finer. Thinner glass, more fragile. The glasses will hold about 8 oz and the pitcher will hold about 48 oz. This is a very lovely iridescent glass pitcher and glasses.
