Unusual Medieval Silver from Sword Sheath or similar?
This was a metal detecting find by myself many years ago. Strangely it was found on a Roman site. Registered with the finds liason officer for the region at the time and deemed possibly medieval but unknown. The item confirmed as silver. This find consisted of two parts rolled tightly together. When separated one piece was found to be larger with a chevron-like design on it whilst the other was thinner with no design. I suspect that they could be restored better but I didn't want to touch them. Larger piece approx. 2" x 1.5" Smaller is approx. 1" x 0.5" Would clean up nice and worth a little more research. I would be interested if anyone had any ideas what they could be from. I did think a sword maybe but am not sure

n19 ORIGINAL c10/11th Viking sword hand guard usable not relic UK find
something else I got from a professional weapon restorer- this is a 100% original Viking sword guard dating from the C10/11th. It was a Uk find. I am told in London, it is for a sword with a very wide blade as you can see from the photo's the slot on the underside of the guard is quite wide. It is slightly curved downwards rather than being straight which is correct for this period. It is iron and is complete but would benefit from a light conservation before it is used in a restoration. It has all the possibilities of being reused on a sword that has a poor condition guard or just leaving as it is. it's a scarce thing to find. it is a peculiar colour, almost a very dark purply red- this appears to be the original colour rather than rust marking. So it is quite possible that when new this guard was painted or enamelled all over. several ... moresword collectors have looked at it and thought the same thing. You could get a restorer to make a new guard but this is the real thing- over 1000 years old. Ultra Rare Pattern Welded Viking Sword 9th – early 10th Century
This is one of the rarest type of Viking Swords. A single edged Wheeler Type II and Petersen Type C Sword whith tea-cosy pommel form. Last one have seen was on Bonhams Auction in Nov. 2012. It comes from the famous E.A. Christensen Collection and was sold for 36.0000 Euro-wow. This one comes from a reputable German Auction House to my collection and now i need so sell it in case of some other acquisitions. The structure of the steel can be seen verry well and is is a verry stong. Havy blade– what is typically for this kind of single edged swords. Verry good condition. Hallmarked 375 solid gold in Euro system which is very close to US 10K gold just about 3 or 4% shy, but still more than 9K gold. Weight about third of troy ounce. You are bidding on a RARE great 16th or 17th century combination axe mace quite an amazing thing. It is probably German or Eastern European Polish Romanian or Hungarian. Never seen one quite like this before. I have found a 17th century German axe hammer combination that has to side spikes like this. Such weapons are rare and they were more popular in Eastern Europe than rest of the Europe but Germans also had great imagination on coming up with marvels like this. Horseman axes were popular in Romania and Hungary. Michael The Brave famously had a double blade axe with a spike and in Hungary in 15th century they have a special axe with 2 spikes on top and ... moreside. Anyway the axe is 24 inches long. The metal head is 8 inches with the socket. The axe blade is 5-1/2 inches wide, the spikes are 1-3/4 inches long and the unusual beak blade is 2-7/8 inches long. As you see the metal has seen better days a lot of the material was lost probably more on the axe than the rest. The blade is a bit sideways bent and one spike has the tip bent as well. The shaft is probably not original(but I am not sure) but is very well made and has good age too and has a small round metal end fitting well made. An amazing unusual RARE piece. Antique Viking Norman Knight Helmet Medieval 10- 12th century This is an Very Rare. Authentic Antique, Medieval 10th-12th century, European Norman Knight conical Helmet, extremely well hand forged entirely of one piece of thick solid steel with a perfectly smooth exterior surface. Most of the helmets of this period were hammered from iron, only the finest ones were made of steel. This particular helmet is made of high-carbon steel, as indicated by the weight, since high-carbon steel is heavier than iron. The steel of the helmet vibrates from gently taping by fingernail, on broken parts, which, in tests are making sound. The way the skull is damaged with sharp cracks is characteristic for steel, since iron is much more malleable than steel, which confirms the steel characteristic of the helmet. On the base edges of the helmet are visible rivets ... moreto attach the hanging cheek and neck pieces. The Norman helmets were made in three types: 1) Helmets forged entirely of one piece of steel with integral nasal. 2) Helmets forged entirely of one piece of steel without nasal. 3) Helmets constructed from several plates riveted together. BALTIC VIKING SWORD POMMEL AND UPPER GUARD--NO RESERVE!
Offered here is a Viking multi-lobed bronze sword pommel and upper guard. The interlaced raised circle decoration on the guard is typical of a sword hilt assembled. Used, and found on the Eastern Baltic, as is the form of the pommel as well. The guard is 54mm long, and the pommel is 50mm long. The narrow, thin end of the sword blade or tang would have been hammered into the pommel, and a cross guard with a decoration identical to the upper guard would have completed the ultimate Viking weapon. The set is likely 10th or 11th century. FYI. I sold Viking artifacts for over a dozen years from a website, so I've seen a lot of legitimate artifacts, and a few fakes as well. This is a quality Viking pommel set.

I recently purchased this from a known seller of Viking age items on ebay. But I need to downsize and last in. First out. It is indeed Viking age as the finder claims. But was found in Latvia. It doesn't match with areas the rare Viking type G was found in, but if you research Parmaur's book, shown but not included in the auction) you will see that is most likely from a rare Antennal type hilt, only 12 or 11 swords which have been found according to the book. It is most likely 10th Century and on a single edged sword like on the book cover.

An authentic WWII Japanese army officer’s Shin Gunto Type 98 samurai katana sword. Please excuse our description and feel free to ask questions as we are not Japanese sword experts. This sword is fresh out a local estate collection and is in 100% original condition This is a nice example of a WWII Japanese officer’s sword in untouched condition. As with all our items. We guarantee the authenticity of this piece. Please check out our other listings, we will be offering several historical edged weapons from the same collection. The blade is signed on both sides of the tang and is in good overall condition with some very minor pitting around the edge of the top half. The edge of the blade is in very good condition with only one small 1 mm deep nick about 4” from the tip of the blade. The overall length of the blade including the tang is about ... more34.5” with an actual blade length of approximately 26” When the blade(without the mount) is rested blade facing up on a flat surface. There is a maximum of approximately 1 1/16” of space between the back of blade and the surface. The mount is an Army Shin Gunto Type 98 with brown painted metal scabbard. The scabbard is in good overall condition with 75% of the original brown paint finish remaining. There is one small ding approximately a third of the way from the top and the drag appears to have been repaired at some point.
