RARE 1890'S CRESCENT NO. 9 MENS BICYCLE LEATHER SEAT WOOD GRIPS ORIGINAL TOOLS
For auction is a very rare pre-war 1890's men's bicycle in as found condition. This bike is the brand Crescent. It is number 9 and was made by the Western Wheel Works of Chicago. As seen in the photos the bike is for the frame, a seat of the era, original grips and leather tool bag with contents. The crank is not original to the bike. Starting with the frame. The frame is solid, but looks as though it was repainted black many years ago. The front head badge or tag is in good condition as seen in the photo, but it does have some scratches and finish wear. The handlebars and forks are both nickel plated and show much wear and finish loss. The hand grips are original to the bike and they are wooden grips wrapped with thin leather strips. As seen in the photos, they are in good shape with obvious wear and one is missing a small chunk ... moreof leather. The seat may not be the original, however it is a period springer seat/ saddle. The frame of the seat is nickel plated and shows wear, see photos. But the top leather parts of the seat are in great shape with some wear, but not dried or cracked or rotted at all. This seats mounting post does show some surface rust. Last to note is the leather tool bag/ pouch with tools. The bag itself is somewhat stiff, but is in good used shape but needs a good cleaning and leather softener. The bag measures 7 inches long by 3 1/2 inches tall, roughly. Included in this bag when we found the bike is all in the photos. The top two wrenches in the photo are actual Crescent brand that came with the bike originally. There is also an Anglo brand small oiler with a patent date of February 26, 95, and April 23rd, 95. Obviously these patents are from 1895. The other wrenches are no name bicycle wrenches, and a few odd parts. This is a very rare, very cool and very old bicycle that is perfect for restoration purposes, or as a showpiece as is. This little indoor pot plant set of implements was brought back by family in the late 1950's. They had spent a lot of time in Japan and Korea. So I don't know exactly where it came from. They used it for tendering their bonsai collection. But I guess it could be used for any indoor pot plants. It's mainly wood and. I think, brass. SCOOP SHOVELS all wood D handled Vintage Lot of 2 antique tools
Pair of vintage shovels. Very old style typical of the 1800's. These are the very hard to find large scoop shovels. I do not see any manufacturers' ID markings on either one. The big one has 3 splits in the grip. The metal pins still hold it togeather fine. The smaller one has a taped handle and may have a split grip also. Both have some age cracks to the wood as would be expected. Small one has pretty good metal. Large one has tear in metal pan and has a worn working edge. They have the one piece handle and grip that is all made from one piece of wood. Both have a gooseneck handle shaft. These are very old shovels. Two factory metal rod/pins are inserted to reinforce the hand grips on each one They are about 40 and 41 inches long Great for vintage display. Movie prop, and reinactments. Some age and wear as would be expected of this ... moreold of an item(see photos) I am not an expert on this item. I have described it as best I can. I took lots of photos. Don't get me wrong. This is an awesome old box for small tools. It is in very rough condition without a handle. A great decorative prop. Or chest for small tools or use to store your gold. This primitive piece measures 12 1/2" X 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" Like a shoe box, but more narrow. The closure is iron and would be awesome if the catch plate was not missing. The antique iron hinge is nice and could be recovered. Hardware pieces are iron; a magnet sticks. The leather handle is missing and I am including a leather handle not original to this piece. It has holes on each end for attachment to the box and seems to fits. However I am not handy enough to attach it. This is a tongue and groove wooden box and the bottom indicates it was originally painted gray. It would benefit from a good wood wax. A 7/8" thimble marked Ste rling with an anchor mark and several ot he r implements as shown with mother of pea rl and bon e. One piece may be part of a manicure set(not sure) with a very fancy goldfilled handle. The box interior is silk with rousching and has many compartments. Hello and welcome Measurements: 4-3/4"tall x 15-1/4"long x 10-1/4"deep For sale is this primitive RUMFORD BAKING POWDER wood advertising box. On the front of the box it says: KEEP IN DRY PLACE RUMFORD. On the sides of box it has: 2 DOZ. 1/2 LB. CANS, RUMFORD, THE WHOLESOME BAKING POWDER, on the bottom there is something written, but I'm unable to read it. I believe that this box is from the early 1900's. The corners are dovetailed jointed. But the bottom is nailed along the outer corners of the bottom edge. Still has the original soft patina, with some scuffs, nicks, chips to the pine wood, missing one small section on the back of the box(please see all pictures) This box is still SOLID and in good condition! Old painted wood hanging rack with wire hooks that can be turned to lay flat. It measures 25" long and 4 1/2" high. The paint is chippy and peeling and the hooks and other metal parts are rusty.
