Up for sale is a beautiful antique oval mahogany gallery tray with solid brass handles. The tray measures 22" by 16" by 2" and is in excellent condition with less than normal wear and tear for its age. There is only one small chip in the rail near the handle and some scraping at the underside of the rail which can be seen in the 3rd and 4th pictures. Based on the way it is constructed and it's high quality. I would guess that it was made in the mid to late 1800s but no later than the very early 20th century. PayPal accepted. Lovely Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany and Satinwood Serpentine Gallery Tray c.1900
Up for auction this superb quality Edwardian Mahogany Gallery Tray with a Satinwood& Mahogany gallery. And two brass handles. The centre of the tray has a lovely inlay of a conch shell. Condition is good, a couple of minor nibbles to to gallery as shown in the photos- these are very minor flaws and could easily be restored or left alone as the tray is very solid and strong in every respect. The chipping is where you would expect. The inlay is all present and very clear. The colours are good and bright. The great thing about this tray is the shape, most are oval or square as the Serpentine shape was much more difficult to do with a wooden gallery and would have been the more expensive item. Inlaid trays are very sought after and usable items- think of how much a rubbish plastic laminated plywood one costs compared to this solid mahogany ... moreversion! Both brass handles are present and original. And have not been polished so they have a lovely colour and patina. Measurements 55cm x 35cm(to widest points) and 6cm tall to tops of handles. Antique mahogany brass handled tray circa 1835
Antique mahogany tray with nicely shaped brass handles. Beautifully grained piece of wood with a nice curved edge to the tray and great handles. Condition- In need of restoration. In remarkably strong condition- you can still use it and the handles are strong. But the edge has suffered a hard knock a long time ago and has a split in it which has been mended a long time ago and could do with being redone. It runs from one handle to the centre(of the side only. No splits to the central part of the flat tray) Saying that, if it is placed flat it is not really at all noticeable, so if you wanted to fill it on a sideboard for a decorative thing, absolutely fine. There is also a split at the other handle, running down, not across. Because this tray was damaged and repaired many years ago, it has never been repolished and is the lovely, dark, original ... morecolour with great patination. The insert is wood cut into pieces and then shaded in hot sand by skilled craftsmen. The original sticker detailing the tray is still visible with some slight fading. The tray measures 15" in diameter. The Tray has some minor scuff and scratches but overall is in very good condition and appears to be the original finish(I have seen some that no longer look like mahogany-too dark) Great find. The brass handles on this piece are replacements- when I found this lovely tray there was only one handle, and I searched for over a year to find replacements that fit- the brass handles fit underneath the piece rather than attaching to the sides. The handles are from another old tray from the same era that didn't have the beautiful needlepoint. The backing of the tray is a felted material and original to the piece. The brass handles have some dark spots that could be polished out. The bottom has four very small metal feet. The frame and base are made of nice solid mahogany and under the glass is a nice matched mahogany veneer with super color and graining. It was real hard to get a good picture of this graining because of the reflection of the glass but I got a couple. The handles are brass with nice mahogany details. Hello. This is a wonderful set manufactured by Virginia Metalcrafters. Which we bought from a boutique store in Virginia about 20 years ago. All the parts are here. All are in mint condition. This set has been displayed in our living room, often behind glass in smoke free home. The Virginia Metalcrafters company was famous for making the highest quality reproductions of Colonial Williamsburg. The company stopped production in 2005. The mahogany try measures 9 and 1/2 inch by 16 and 1/4 inches. Tray looks mint per the photos posted here. The Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia Metalcrafters logo is in the center of the tray. On the back per the photo posted here. The two Square Decanters were also sold by Virginia Metalcrafters. And I understand these are hand blown glass, measuring about 6" x 6" The two decanters make a wonderful ... moredisplay when placed upon the mahogany tray. On each of the bottles. Beautiful antique mahogany tray - Georgian?
Beautiful Antique mahogany tray/table top slightly irregular oval shape. I do not know anything about the age of this tray. But it is obviously old. I have uploaded loads of photos so you can see clearly the joins and the faults. It is made from one piece of mahogany for the base and there are two joins on the rim, which could be a different wood, I'm not sure. There is a small piece of wood missing from the base and a split in the rim- see pic 11 and 12. Underneath there are some marks which lead me to believe that it was once screwed on to something else see pic 8. It measures 50x35cm. Beautiful Georgian Mahogany Tray With Needlework Inlay c1800
This is a beautiful little Georgian Tray that dates from around 1800. The tray is oval in shape and measures 28 cm long. 20 cm wide and 5 cm deep. It is made from mahogany with band of ebony inlaid into the outside face. There is a glass base that encloses a wonderful piece of needlework that surrounds an aquatint engraving which is enclosed in a circle of gold beadwork. The engraving shows a classical scene from the period of ladies collective hops or fruit from tall plants and placing them into a basket. There is also a child and dog resting in the foreground. Overall this is a delightful image in very good condition. There are signs of slight staining to the perimeter of the needlework. This can be removed by expertly cleaning of the fabric once removed from beneath the glass. The needlework comprises gold and silver threads expertly done ... morein a floral style.
