Unique Primitive Cutlery Tray Tool Carrier Made from Wood Crate~Really Neat!
This truly must be unique. And that is one reason why like it so much. This is its debut on ebay for collectors of antique woodenware made from old packing crates. Some of the original colorful stickers of the type that orange growers used are there, but not enough to give an actual name or company. We bought this at an antiques fair in Florida where orange groves thrive. Some old(there when we bought it and possibly original) sloppy paint in green and white adds interest, and we would not dream of removing it. This neat antique appears to be a cutlery tray or tool carrier. It is almost certainly hand made or home made. It is a great primitive in our house. Condition is as seen on photos. This piece measures 13 1/4" x 9" x 2" The bottom is stamped 86-2183. There is some damage to the piece-chipping of three of the sides. Paint scuffing marks/scratches and general use wear-just adding to the true vintage look. I have pictured it from all sides to show the condition. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOOD CUTLERY KNIFE TRAY with HANDLE WOOD NAILS FOLK ART
Up for your consideration is this fabulous primitive wooden cutlery tray that I believe could be American. Not sure what type of wood was used. But appears to be a hard type wood.The tray appears to have the original stain and has wooden nails. There are a couple that could have been replaced with metal nails, but really hard to tell. There is a corner that has two old nail repairs.The sides have been put together with double dado joints. Probably dates to the early 1800's period. The tray has a wood handle and considering the age is in good condition. You can see were the knives have marked the top of the tray and the wear on the inside is consist with age. You can see several areas where the wood has shrunk. Measures 9" by 13-1/2" 2-1/2" tall, and has a 4" tall handle. Buyer to pay $17.00 Standard Shipping which ... moreincludes insurance.
