FABULOUS ANTIQUE ENGLISH OAK/SILVER SERVING TRAY-1800'S
This listing is for an antique English oak and silver serving tray dating from late 1800's-early 1900's. Beautifully made from one oak board and decorated with a shield/medallion which can be engraved. In excellent condition overall. Especially for the age. Some tarnish as shown. Can most likely be buffed out. Never previously engraved. So can be custom engraved on the central shield.Great wedding gift idea. Art Deco Humidor Quartersawn Oak & Silver Smoke Set Cigar Cigarette Tobaco
Probably one of the nicest Art Deco smoking sets I have ever seen. It was manufactured in England around 1920 and sold at the Paris store located at 1 Rue de la Paix. I have enclosed two Mappin and Webb stores adds from December of 1919 giving the address of the Paris store. The words"Triple Deposit Mappin& Webb and The 1 Rue de la Paix" are engraved on the bottom of the tray. The stores at that time were located in London. Biarritz, Nice and Monte Carlo. The silver appears to be a heavy silverplate and shows very little wear. There are three silver humidor boxes that are lined with spanish cedar and could be used for cigars, cigarettes or whatever type of loose tabac you smoke. The small boxes are 3 3/4" wide x 2 1/2" deep and 2 1/2 inches tall. The larger cigar box measures 7" wide x 5" deep x 3 1/2" ... moretall. The boxes have domed lids so the height measurements are approximate. The rolling trays are 2 3/4" x 4" One of the trays has a pin point dent which is barely noticeable. The match striker vase is solid white glazed porcelain with a gritty surface and a silver bib. The oil lamp, which appears to have never been used, has a silver match that comes from its center and could be lit from the lamps flame.The handle of the lamp is a snake. The quartersawn oak tray measures 11 1/2" x 18" and has a heavy silver fence that is around the wood and is incorporated into the feet on the bottom. One of the feet has the makers mark and address. There are two rests in front of the lamp and striker that could be used for a variety of purposes. The quality of the workmanship is superb with all pieces being cut into the wood. I don't think you will see one of these again and certainly not in this condition. SUPER LARGE EDWARDIAN OAK & SILVER PLATED GALLERY EDGED TRAY SO DOWNTON ABBEY
A lovely example of one of these"iconic" English Oak Edwardian gallery trays. This one has an unusual sort of"bobble" decoration around the edging along with the same on the handles and I have never seen this decoration before. It is 22.5" 57cm) long and 14" 35cm) wide, the condition is lovely and the pictures certainly do not do this one justice, its a beauty with its richly coloured oak base. Low start and no reserve. This Auction is for a Stunning Antique English Oak& Silver Plate GALLERY Serving TRAY. The tray features a strong silver plated bar gallery. A silver plate insert for monogramming(never been monogrammed) and 4 silver plate Ball feet. The tray measures approximately 21 inches by 15 inches in width. The center seam of the tray has opened ever so slightly at one end(the opening is likely very old and is stable- being held from any further opening by the bolted in handles- please see photos) There is wear to the inserted plate in the center of the tray which we have shown in the pictures provided. A Gorgeous Antique Oval Tiger Oak Serving Tray with Silver Plate Gallery c.1900
Here we have a gorgeous late Victorian or Edwardian period light coloured Tiger Oak tray with a silver plated gallery and silver plated handles and a central vacant silver plated cartouche c.1900. This tray is one of the finest early 20th century trays I have ever seen. The oak is a very nice light colour with a Tiger Oak grain and is actually quite thinly made so as not to be too heavy to carry once laden with drinks. The galleried edge is made from EPNS and extends around the edge with handles worked into the design. There is a central cartouche ideal for engraving a crest or initials that is currently vacant. One of the finest antique Oak trays available for sale today. Measurements(approx) it measures 24.5" 622mm) wide x 16.5" 419mm) deep. Condition: The tray is in excellent order with no splits. Cracks or chips anywhere. The ... morecentral cartouche is slightly rubbed although the gallery shows very little wear. The wood has a few very small marks from drinks which you can see in the right light. If you so desired it would be refinished and made to shine although it would be fine to be used and displayed as is. The colour is infact a lot warmer and golden than the pictures show. All in all a gorgeous tray ideal for any dinner party or garden party to serve drinks. An excellent quality antique.
