This batea has an out of round shape and measures 13 1/2 inches rim to rim in one direction and 12 5/8 inches rim to rim in the other direction. The depth varies between 2 1/4 to 3 1/2 inches. The exterior shows a lovely golden brown grain under dark brown lacquer. There is worn gilding to the rim in areas. With scattered white specky spots and streaks at the bottom and exterior. Very Unique oblong shaped Mexican batea wood dough bowl for sale! This batea has been in my personal collection for many years. It is a very unique oblong shape measuring approximately 16 1/2 inches long by 11 inches wide. It is just under 4 inches deep. This batea is in very good vintage condition. It does have a few paint chips on the red flowers(see photos) It also has a couple tiny nail holes and a small crack that doesn't go all the way through. Up for consideration is this rare beautiful vintage Mexican Badea hand painted folk art gourd. Has a hinged top held on by one piece of cord. And a cord attached to either side for hanging this wonderful piece of decor. Notice the beautiful detail in the painting of this piece. The overall condition is in excellent shape. There are a few chips in the paint; one on the lower left of the front side. very small white spot is a chip in the paint. Offered at auction is this fantastic piece of Mexican folk art! It is a hand carved. Hand painted, wood batea tray/bowl. This lovely tray/bowl measures 11 3/4" in length and 7 1/2" in width. The artist even cut out a handle on each end. As you can see from the photos, the artist also used an array of bright colors in his designs and then accented them with gold lines and a gold, scalloped rim. He then coated the entire piece with a clear gloss in order to protect it. This beautiful piece of folk art is in great vintage condition. If interested, I'm listing another, similar batea as well. This hand-painted Batea Tray measures 12-1/2" across. I have to apologize as originally. My description said that the bowl had no cracks. However, upon closer inspection. I noticed it did have a small crack, which is located on the upper right(first photo) where the daisy is painted. So. I changed that in the"condition" description but had forgotten to change it here. Okay. Now the crack has been mentioned. You might not see it. I didn't at first. The bowl does appear to have been used and has typical wear marks from use. It is still charming though and can still be used as a tray or bowl. Or simply for display. Floral design features mostly roses and pink daisies. This is a hand carved and hand painted wood batea bowl. It is not marked. But it is like other bowls and platters that we have that are marked Made in Mexico. The bowl is filled with beautiful flowers in shades of red, purple, orange, green and cream on a traditional black background. It is misshapen as these older hand carved bowls are. It is in vintage used condition with some wear to the bottom and up the outer sides. The flowers are in nice condition with very little paint loss. We took lots of close-up pics so please look them over to judge the condition for yourself. This is a lovely and large piece that displays very nicely. This is a vintage. Hand carved, hand painted, folk art wooden Batea tray from Mexico. The tray is hand painted. Mexican Toleware- a floral design in brilliant colors on a lacquered,natural wood background. It is hand carved. With inset handles, and a scalloped rim. This Batea measures 17 5/8"L x 11"W x 1.5"D. It is in very good. Vintage condition, with brilliant color, and no cracks.

One is carved out of wood with flowers galore& is 9" wide x 1 1/8" thick& in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or scratches. The other is lovely bird on a branch of leaves n flowers& is in very good condition there are scratches& small rust area however this is all underneath the painting this is truly folk art here folks for someone has painted over an old tin pie plate.
