Vintage Italian Shabby Gilt Tole Wood Boy/Court Scene Pictures Florentine Chic
This is a set of small Italian vintage wood pictures that my parents bought on one of their many trips to Italy. The pictures have wood frames and are under glass measuring 3 inches round by ½ an inch thick. The frames have nice rich gilt paint with incised accent lines and dots. The back is covered with paper and they are stamped“Made in Italy. They have the original hangers on the backs. They are very dainty and late 18th. century style pieces. They are at least 30 years old and in good condition. The one with the royal court scene has two small spots where the gold paint has worn off on the side of the frame: at 1 o'clock and 4 o'clock. It cannot be seen from the frontal view. The picture with the boy has a small scratch in the paint of about 1/3" at about 10 o'clock(this may be visible from a frontal view) There ... moreare a couple very small holes and/or tears in the paper on the backs of the pictures. Made of gilt and painted gesso coated wood in lovely florentine style. Beautiful gold color with crackled texture and red undertones. It looks like a dresser. But actually the drawers DO NOT open.instead the top lifts up to storage inside. Perfect to use as a hamper or for extra storage. Very useful and so pretty! The hamper is in good estate condition. A romantic beauty with typical age related imperfections. There is some usual chippiness to the paint/ gilt and wood. Actually very typical type imperfections for these older style florentine pieces.
