RARE OLD ANTIQUE FRENCH HEAVY BRASS FIREPLACE SCREEN LOVE BIRDS FLAME WREATH
We are pleased to offer this beautiful. OLD, French brass fireplace screen. This lovely screen dates to the early half of the 20th century. It features a rare, central design with two large love birds in a tree. There is an abundance of detail on the entire piece. The frame is adorned with drapery swags on the bottom and climbing vines on each side. The top features true French styling with a large, hammered brass wreath. Beneath the wreath are two crossed flaming torches. The vining and leaf design is also repeated here. The feet are large acanthus leaves. There is a French bow above the tree in which the birds are seated and a large floral swag just below. This is a beautiful and ornate screen. It is heavy brass with some evidence of hammering. The screen retaiins the mesh which is also wire framed in the back. Flat head screws attach the ... moremesh to the frame. The screen is in very, very good, antique condition. There is some aging to the brass patina. It does appear that the screen has been used. There are no maker's marks that I can find. However, this is a very nicely constructed screen. The brass is thick and the screen is heavy. The screen measures 26.5" tall. It is 28.75" wide at the widest section. The feet extend 4" on each side(8" deep) The screen weighs 18 lbs. It is a beautifully handpainted enameled ware teapot or kettle that stands approximately 10" tall and 8" around the belly. The shape is called Louis Phillipe because that was the period it was made. Approximately 170 years ago. It has a raised floral design that is in remarkable shape considering how old it is. The interior shows its real age, however. There is a lot of rusting on the inside so it would have to be for decorative purposes only. Please see photos for greater detail. Country of Manufacture: France. Age: Circa 1930-1948. 3 Antique Italian Florentine Gilt/Tole Fleur de Lis Green&Gold Shelves-RARE-VGC
Offered is a set of three(3) Antique Italian Florentine Fleur de Lis shelves. These shelves belonged to a man I bought a house from and I was told they belonged to his grandfather. The gentlemen I bought these from was about 70 years old then(I didn't ask his actual age. But he was pretty old and had never lived in another house, other than the house I bought from him) Now, this was back in 1990, when I bought the house and I literally fell in love with these shelves and although I was just a novice collector, the previous owner knew he had something special. I had more money than brains, back then, and I paid him whatever it was he wanted for them.I do not recall the actual $ amount, BUT I recall having to go to a bank to acquire the funds. Anyway, I got them and since hubby and I are trying to downsize, these just have to go. They are ... morenot without flaws.There are some scratches/place s missing paint. As shown in the photos but I don't feel any of the mars distract from the overall lovliness of the shelves(that is my opinion) There is a pattern to the top of the shelves. As shown in the photos and one shelf has a pretty good scratch on the shelf top. There is a piece of tape on the back of one of the shelves and that shelf's back sticks out maybe 1/8" or so from the shelf top. It is securely attached and the hanger is also attached to the back, but not to the corner where it belongs.please see photos and be sure to ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Finding three matching shelves from over 100 years ago, probably closer to 150 years ago is rather unusual, if not unheard of.

Rare 19th C Constant Joseph Brochart Lithograph Tin Art Tray You are viewing a Very Rare Antique Lithographed/Painted Tray based off the Original Artwork of French Painter CONSTANT JOSEPH BROCHART(1816- 1899) I believe this tray dates to the mid to late 1800's. But I'll leave it to the experts to determine it's exact age. The tray depicts a stunning image of a Victorian woman. There is what appears to be a family crest near the woman's right shoulder(please see photo) The crest looks like a Sphinx within a shield with a crown on top. Near the woman's left should is Constant Joseph Brochart's printed signature. It reads CJ BROCHART(please see photo) The lithographed or painted image is in Good shape showing bold colors and detailed graphics. From my brief research. I believe that this piece may have once had a decorative ... moreouter rim, but I'm not 100% sure. It does have some condition issues, even though it displays nicely. The lithograph or paint shows very subtle crazing. There are a few chips to the finish, mainly along the outer rim(gold gilt) The tray is bent somewhat out of round as seen in the side views. It is no longer perfectly round. The back of the tray shows loss to the cream colored finish. Despite the flaws mentioned. This remains a very scarce piece that still displays well. Antique Tin Box Tole Painting: Bread Box or Picnic Chest, German Made Rare 1800s
This fabulous tin box is such a pretty mint green color. Unusual for a box of its type. Made in Germany, probably in the late 1800s, I've been trying to decide its original use. At 16" X 8-1/2" X 4" deep it seems a little large for a document box. With a lot of research I haven't been able to find another one just like it but because of others that I found even somewhat similar, the vents in the back and the ridged interior bottom I am feeling reasonably confident in calling it a breadbox or picnic chest. The bottom is marked"Germany" and above that what I believe may be an importer's mark that I've been unable to identify. It may be"KL, Inc. N.Y. or"KLINC. N.Y. but I couldn't find any reference to either one. It is definitely in shabby condition with a great deal of light surface rust. ... moreDust and several areas of paint loss. The interior, remarkably, is less rusted than I would expect with the greatest concentration of rust in the crevices. There are no dings or dents. I have not done any clean up as I didn't want to disturb its already fragile patina. Use it as is as a decorative piece hearthside or on a porch or restore it for the bathroom, boudoir, kitchen or any room in the house. The possibilities are endless. This is a very unique and decorative pan. May be French in origin, and it is from the mid 1800’s, and quite rare(museum quality) With an exceptionally colored floral painted design and white trim. The entire body inside and out of pan is black, with hardly any wear. It was probably hung mostly as decorative. As it has a lovely design with unique pan shape and twisted metal handle. Pan measures 12 side length. 7 front length, 9 deep, 4 ½ wide at opening down to a pointed cone. The handle is 26” long and about 11” at its widest point connecting to the dust pan. It will have to be shipped in two separate boxes. As I have nothing long or wide enough(this will save some expense too) A rare find at a low starting price. This early Toleware Violin Case is about 29 ¾ in. long. 8 ¾ in. wide, and 4 ½ in. high. It is sturdy and useable with a 24 in. long interior opening with a 5 in. compartment at the end. There is extensive paint loss, with some remaining flowers, and areas of light surface rust, marks, and scuffs(see photos) One exterior latch is missing and in the interior one of the bow holders is gone. CONSTITUTION(OLD IRONSIDES" TO ME. The tray is 26-1/8" x 18-7/8" I would guess tray to be c.1840's vintage or thereabouts. Great antique image of Ship with 15-STAR FLAG IN REAR AND ANOTHER BANNER FLAG ON TOP OF MIDDLE MAST. Flower designs around tray borders. The tray has some chipping and flaking to some of the paint decoration as you see it and could use some restoration. You are getting tray just as it came from estate. Vintage antique Italian florentine piano jewelry box and Rare small oblong tray
You are bidding on a lot of two Florentine pieces. Each of these pieces is unusual and any collector will be delighted with the two. The small oval tray measures 9.5 inches long. 7.5 inches wide and has a depth of half an inch. It is the classic scalloped handled tray in mint green and gold with a crimsome diamond shape in the middle of the tray. The jewelry box resembles a piano and is painted in gold, burgandy white and a colonial blue. Rare Antique French Papier Mache Butler's Crumb Tray with Brush
I bought this beautiful antique butler's crumb tray with matching brush from a shop that specializes in vintage and antique French furniture and accessories. It has been kept in my personal collection of Victoriana in my smoke-free home. It is in great condition. With no chips, cracks, or crazing. The matching bristle brush comes with it. This set, black with tiny gold starts, makes a fine display reminiscent of a lost, more elegant time, and would be wonderful framed in a shadowbox.

Antique French Black/Gold Tole "Gondola" Candle Sconce - Very Rare
This is a really outstanding- Very rare French Candle Sconce. A beautiful Tole piece in Black with Gold trim- in the shape of a Gondola with a removable Shade. The Sconce is in two pieces. The first piece is Gondola shaped and measures 9 3/4 inches in length- extending from the wall. The second piece is the shade. The shade is 7 3/4 inches in length. When attached to the bottom or Gondola piece- it extends 12 inches from the wall. The piece is in very good condition- the candle holder is very firmly attached to the gondola. The shade has trails of gold foliage around the exterior- and is painted a cream color on the interior. The piece is marked on the back"Made in France" however I was unable to get a good photo. This rare piece of history is over 100 years old. It was my 85 yr old grandmother's MOTHER'S first Clothes washing machine. It is so old in fact that it has no identification. No brand. Model number. There peak time was during the Victorian era since they had a fascination with nature(on both sides of the Atlantic) ... moreThis one is from the mid-1800's. It measures 9 5/8" long by 4 1/8" top to bottom by 2 3/4" thick. When new they would have had leather or canvas straps that were used to hang the vessel around the neck so that the hands were free to gather flowers and bugs! THIS ONE HAS THE ORIGINAL CLOTH STRAP ATTACHED. Children used them. Mostly, but I'm sure they were used by adults as well. Young ladies gathered ferns, mosses, flowers and other vegetation for decorations and herbariums. THIS ONE has some of the stenciled paint missing BUT WHAT IS GREAT about this example is that it is also STENCILED AND EMBOSSED with a HORSE and TWO DOGS on the lid. RARE DESIGN THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN ON ANY LISTED ANYWHERE! That part of the picture is textured and sticks up, not flat, so it is embossed. The lid is held closed by a LATCH. I have shown pictures of an article I found in a 1997 Country Home magazine. I saved that article hoping that one day I would find one of these and I now found two.
