Three French "Pyrogene" Bistro Match Striker/Holders
For sale are three French"Pyrogene" bistro match holders/strikers. Made of porcelin. These were used to hold strike-anywhere matches which could be lit by striking against the unglazed ribbed side or bottom of the holder. They were very popular in the early 1900s and were often given out as a vehicle for advertising. Each holder is about 3.25" to 3.5" tall with a circular base with an approximate 3.5" diameter. An emory round paper strike is attached underneath the base. Although strike-anywhere matches are much harder to find today and are not considered safe. These holders continued to be manufactured and many reproductions exist today. It is difficult to determine whether or not these date back 100 years but they have been used and, since I have had them for over 43 years, they must be at least of pre-war manufacture. ... moreThe price I am asking for the three is based on this uncertainty. Up for your consideration is a pair of sterling silver matchbox covers or holders. They are marked with an L inside a crescent and"Sterling. I looked up this mark online and here is what I found: Lebkuecher& Co. Newark. NJ 1896-1918 Founded by Arthur E. Lebkuecher. Frank A. Lebkuecher, and Charles C. Wientge. Went by the name Francis A. Lebkuecher& Co. 1912-1918. Acquired by The Eleder Co. 1918 and by 1922 it had become the Eleder-Hickok Co. although they continued to use the Lebkuecher mark. Eleder-Hickok merged with the Matthews Co. to become Hickok-Matthews Co. Makers of sterling holloware and novelties. The matchbox covers have a series of vertical lines. Punctuated periodically with a space. Both matchbox covers are engraved with the letter"K. This is a wonderful set of bisque match holders one is a happy face baby and the other is a sad face baby. They probably would sit on top of the mantle one on each side with the matches in them. They measure 3 1/2 inches high and are 2 1/2 inches wide. The color and details on the babies are so great! There looks like there might be one small nick or it could be just the way it was made but it is on the inside rim. I am leaning towards it happening in the making process. They are just so cute!

LOT OF 3 ANTIQUE MATCH HOLDERS
These match holders were part of my mother’s antique collection. I think they’re great. But I don’t have anywhere to display them properly. I’m hoping to set them free from the dark cupboard where they have lived for several years. This lot includes three very different metal match holders from the mid to late 19th century. The first is an ornate. Cast iron box with a hinged front cover. The cover is marked“C. PARKER PAT SEPT 14, 1869 MAY 3, 1870” although the last number in each year is a little difficult to read) indicating it was made by the Charles Parker Company of Meridan CT. The holder measures 5.5” high by 4” wide by 1.5” deep. While the original finish is worn, it is still visible on many parts of the holder. The second holder is a simple, rectangular cast iron box with a curved interior. This holder has no lid and measures 2.5” ... morehigh by 2.5” wide by 2” deep. The last holder is made of pressed tin and has two match compartments. This piece has a black paint finish which may not be original, but has been on the holder for as long as it has been in my family(about 60 years) This holder measures 5” high by 4” wide by 1” deep.

4 Vintage Toothpick or Match Holders - 2 Clear - 1 Amber - 1 Green Glass
I am presenting 4 very nice Toothpick or Match Holders for your viewing. This is not my area of expertise so I will describe them thoroughly along with the pictures. 1. This very elegant Amber glass is in the Diamond Pattern I have been told. It is 2 1/2" tall and 2" across. The diamond pattern is above and below and a clear paneled pattern in the middle. The bottom is a swirled pattern. I find no chips. Cracks or other damage using the visual and feel test. 2. This toothpick is clear pressed glass in a barrel shape. I believe 3 of the top points have a tiny piece missing. It measures 2 1/4" high and 1 1/2" at the opening. The barrel shape is very unique with the center divided by a 3/8" wide hobnail design. I find no other chips or cracks. There is something written on the bottom which I cannot read. The bottom has ... morea small clear circle with swirls to the spot that meets with the main design. 3. This toothpick is clear glass in an urn shape. It is crystal clear glass in the Daisy Button pattern. It has handles on each side. It stands 2 1/2" high and is 2 1/2" wide from handle to handle. The opening is 3/4" This also has a swirl bottom. I find no chips. Cracks or other damage. 4. Last is a small green barrel shaped toothpick or shot glass. It is 2" tall. It has TEQUILA CUERVO written on the top border on both sides. I find no damage to this glass also. There is an old tag on the inside. Priority shipping USA. Please contact me with any questions. Up for bids are these 4 Antique Carved Folk Art Carved Wooden Miniature Boot Match Toothpick Holders. These were carved some time around the 1920s through the 1940s. Each of these are carved out of one piece of wood. These were meant to be a match holders or a toothpick holders. Three of these are very similar work boots with leather laces and the other is a cowboy boot. The toothpicks or matches would sit in the shoe. The tallest is the cowboy boot which is 2 7/8" in length. 1 1/4" in width, and 3" in height. All measurements are approximate because this is a whimsy and it was whittled and not meant to be a specific size. All of these are in great condition with no breaks or repairs but the leather laces are starting to fall apart which happens to leather over the years but they still look great. Beautiful antique matchbox holders from the early 1900's! They are stamped.800. Meaning they are 80% silver. These are not plated, but solid silver, and they weigh over an ounce, so they are worth the minimum bid in melt value alone. Based on the stamp and the design, I believe these to be Turkish, early 20th century, which would make them from the Ottoman Empire. Very rare, you won't find another set like this online. I don't know whether they were intended as toothpick holders. Match holders, vases or just for decorative purposes. Each measures about 5 1/8" tall. One cherub holds a drumstick in right hand while the other has a quiver of arrows on his back. The drumstick cherub has had repairs to helmet. I think that the actual damage was to the outer tip of the helmet but the touch-up extends over all of the blue area. There has been some flaking of touch-up as you can see in photos. There is a little bit of blue paint on the cherub's side where helmet ... moretouches, presumably from the touch-up. The cherub with quiver is in excellent condition with the only minor defect being a small flake to back side of hair measuring about 1/8" across(see photo) These pieces are beautifully hand-decorated with great attention to detail. The ceramic one does hold a large box of matches and has the place for the singles, the marking on the back looks like a flower with the letter H in the center and the writing says Hand painted and Japan. No cracks or chips. It is 6 1/4 h and 3 1/4 wide.it has that crackled look from age.it also has the strike ridges on the bottom. The gold one has been painted way back.my friend gave it to me 20 something years ago.was her grandmothers, it is metal and is 3 x3 1/4. Lot of 3 Toothpick or Match Holders 2 Nippon 1 Noritake
This listing is for 3 Toothpick/Match Holders. 2 are Nippon and 1 is Noritake. 1) Nippon Scenic 3 Handled Toothpick/Match Holder with beading on each handle. It is marked"Hand Painted Nippon" I don't see any beading missing or any chips. Cracks, repairs or hairlines. This piece is about 2 1/4" tall and the opening is about 2" wide. This is a very nice piece. 2) Nippon Floral 2 Handled Toothpick/Match Holder with a Floral scene going around the piece. It is about 2 1/4" tall to top of the handles. The opening is about 1 5/8" wide. I don't see any chips. Cracks, repairs or hairlines. It has a Crown mark on the bottom. 3) Noritake Scenic Toothpick/Match Holder. The scene covers the entire piece. It stand about 2 1/4" tall. The opening is about 2" wide. I don't see any cracks. Chips, repairs ... moreor hairlines. It has the Noritake mark with the"M" in the center. ANTIQUE MATCH/TOOTHPICK HOLDERS (2)
Offering(2) two antique match/toothpick holders. They are not matching. Two different designs. They are both approx. 3 inches tall and 3& 2 3/4 inch wide. Paint is nearly all worn off from years of handling. There are no makers mark or country on either. The smaller one has no damage. The larger one has a crack on the front of it. Not real noticable. But it is there.

This auction is for 2 Vintage Match Box Holders The first one has a photo of" BARCELONA" on the front& a photo of what I think is a Bull Ring on the bottom. It contains 28 green matches with white heads& measures about 1 7/8" X 1 1/2" X 3/8" The second has"1821- 1971" and a picture of a man with a name I can't read(not English) I suggest you check the photos for yourself. It contains 50 wood matches with dark brown heads& measures about 2" X 1 1/2" X 3/8" I describe each item as best and honestly as possible. If I have knowledge or information about the item.
