Lot Of 5 Vintage Italian Florentine Boxes Gesso Gilt Wood Hand Painted Pottery
Nice lot of four vintage dating from the 40's Italian Florentine Wood Gesso Boxes in various sizes and shapes and one entirely hand painted pottery box from the 50's. Three of the Florentine boxes are the typical kind with gold gilt and paint and the fourth one is off white with painted vine leaves all around. The smallest of these is 3" square and the largest is 6" X 4" All are in good vintage condition with very mild gold loss. The pottery box that dates from the fifties is all hand painted with a nice Italian landscape on the top of the lid. The same lid has a floral design on the inside also. The box is numbered and signed on the bottom and it is also marked"Italy" It measures 3 1/2" long X 3" wide X 1 1/2" high. Primitive Vintage Hand Painted Italian Florentine Pepper Mill Pepper Grinder Busybusybusy treasure hunting week for you. I shopped at a closing antique store. Went to the flea market, and still have some items from the weeks ago farm estate auction- there’s lots of neat stuff that you don‘t want to miss! Gosh. It seems like such a long time since I have seen a nice piece of Italian Florentine- and this is a striking, usable piece. It's a wonderful wood peppermill, hand painted in the oh-so-florentine fashion in vivid gold, red and turquoise blue(the colors are beautiful) It's marked on the bottom, Made Italy, and then with a C* C. The mill measures 12 3/4" tall and is 2 5/8" diameter at the base. It weighs just over 3/4 lb. It's in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition and as I said, works great. I put in a ... morehandful of my own peppercorns and ground away, and it worked very well. As with so many old Florentine pieces, this is a rustic piece, that shows lots of wear to the finish. There's general wear to the paint like you see in photos 3, 9& 12, and chippy wear to the paint, like you see in photo 11. In photos 3& 9, you can see that half of the top rim under the blue painted cone shape has its paint worn down to the wood- clealy where it has been held for use. Directly under that, in photo 12, you can see a 1 1/2" long by 1/2" spot that is not worn down to the wood all the way, you see mostly the white under the colored paint. Most of the wear is in the used places, or on edges, but there are some spots on the body that are small, and you see to the white layer of paint/primer. You can see rustic crazing/crackling of the paint from age all over. The wood shows very minor wear- nicks, scratches, scrapes and dings not inconsistent with age and use. Italian c1950's Hand Painted 4 Piece Toleware Kitchen Set
This adorable green hand painted set is amazing. Front and back of each piece is hand painted with different flowers on each side. There is some chipping and rust that is expected with pieces this age. The insides of jug and pot are almost in perfect condition. The pot measures approximately 8 1/2" high including knob. The milk jug measures approximately 4" high, the napkin holder measures 4" high and the canister measures approximately 4" high.
