19th Cent Tole Container, Structurally Sound, Most Paint Gone
Perhaps this was originally used for tea. Measuring about 8 1/8” tall with a base diameter of 4 1/8” It is still structurally sound with only a couple of dents, but most of the tole painting is gone. The sides of the lid appear to show some of the patterns still even though the paint is gone. More of the original black background is left on the bottom section, as well as a few of the red& yellow brush strokes on different flowers. There is some rust along the bottom seam; some of the original“coppery” black finish can be seen on the bottom. Oh, the stories this tin might tell. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only. Pretty 19th Cent Tole Tray. Intricate Gilt Stenciling– Complex Design, Rather Small Size This 19th cent floral tole tray. Measuring about 13 7/8” by 10 ½” features a red& a yellow flower at its center. The red flower has a yellow flower as its center, while the yellow flower has a pale red flower on its green center– it also has red shading on 2 petals. Large stylized gold leaves in 2 sizes plus thin stems are stenciled to frame the flowers. There are also 4 small white flowers with dark blue shading on each petal scattered outside the upper parts of the 2 center flowers. 4 gold circles are stenciled at the center above the red& yellow flowers with their thin stenciled stems emerging below. A white many petaled flower is placed“on” each gold circle. Long intricate beaded curlicues fill in the entire background of the tray with ... moremany small gold leaves arranged in twos, threes, even fours all carefully stenciled. An ornate stenciled gilt border encircles the frame& gold was painted all the way around the tray, but that trim is mostly gone. Up for consideration is a fine pair of original black painted Tole Candle Sconces. These date mid 19th Century or earlier. They are unmarked but more than likely come from the Eastern United States Pennsylvania. They measure 10 inches by 3 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/4 inches deep. They have nice pie crust crimping along the top arched portion of the Wall Sconces. They have wonderful coloration and more or less are in exceptional condition with no visible repairs. Up for consideration is a Victorian Gilt hand painted floral large Tole tray and later wooden stand. The tray measures about 25 1/4 inches long by 19 1/2 inches wide with a table height of 19 inches. The table lifts off and both the tray and the collapsible small table and be put away. It has a very interesting black and gilt painted floral elements that have been accentuated with gilt or gold leafing. The tray dates from about 1880 or earlier. It has Turtle top design which was popular in and around mid to late Victorian. There is some light overall wear commensurate with age. No dings. Up for consideration is an antique early 19th Century Bread or serving Tray. The tray measures 13 3/4 by 10 3/4 inches. The piece is hand cut and worked as the piece is fairly thin and the edges show signs that it was not simply stamped or pressed out from a large die. It was however decorated using a stencil. Beautiful and rare end of 19th century toleware painted tin box with hinged lid. Picnic basket shaped, for little girl's lunch or doll's accessory. Highly collected and hard to find Little Red Riding Hood theme decor with French wording. See photos. Sadly rusted.
