Sinclair News Map Europe and the Near East. This is an undated World War II era map by Rand McNally& Co. The map unfolds to 19 X 26 inches and is not torn. It is essentially clean from writing with the exception of 3 small airplane pencil sketches about 1 inch long on the lower white margin of the map. This good quality map has much detail on both sides including an enlarged map of the war zone between France and Germany labeled"Western Europe War Zone. Some of the military features shown across this map include naval bases. Air bases, blockades, fortifications and mined areas plus the Maginot Line and the Siegfried Line. Also has the Sinclair H-C Gasoline logo of the era that later extended into the 1960's and an advertising narrative on"anti-knock performance.

This is a vintage Esso War Map II featuring The World Island Fortress Europe. The map is copyrighted by General Drafting Co. Inc. and was Lithographed in the U.S.A. The bottom of the front of the map reads, A second War Map edited, drafted, and printed by the makers of the well-known Esso Road Maps, Esso Marketers. The map is good condition but does show some yellowing from age. When folded the front and back covers of the map show torn pieces in the bottom right and left corners, and when laying open small pinholes can be seen at a several places in the map's fold marks. The front cover also has the remnants of a price tag sticker in the upper right corner. This War Map is in color, and features a special area titled, The Geography of Global Warfare which includes such subtitles as: The World Island. Fortress Europe, Those Foreign Names, ... moreGeography Far From Static, and Peace Conference Problems. One side of the map features The World Island and the other side features Europe and Africa. It measure approximately 27 x 20 inches in size. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 10 to 90 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying may be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. One area near that city of particular interest is the strip known as"Buzz Bomb Alley" Google it for some interesting reading. Map does have a couple of routes drawn over highways with a felt tip highlight pen, but is otherwise in very sturdy condition.

Issued between late April and May 10, 1940, based on the state of the"Phony War" A big map, 31 3/4" broad by 26 1/2" tall, folded six times to form a 10 7/8" x 6 1/2" booklet. Splendid information on the reverse. First Edition. The map shows the political boundaries as they existed in 1940, with cannons pointed across the then-existing borders to show the two sides in place in late Spring, 1940. Poland had been divided between Germany and the USSR. Finland had been defeated in March 1940. Czechoslovakia, Austria and Memel had been taken by Germany. Hungary had expanded to Ruthenia and the Banat. Denmark and Norway were either taken or in battle. Major George Fielding Eliot ... morewas born in the USA, moved with his family to Australia at the age of 8, attended Military School, joined the Australian Army in 1914, fought at Gallipoli and the Western Front, was wounded twice and breveted Major. He emigrated to Canada, served in the RCMP, began writing, returned to the USA, joined the Army Reserve as an officer, then quit that duty so he could more freely write on military matters. He predicted the Japanese conquest of the Philippine Islands and the attack on, but not an occupation of, Hawaii- he correctly predicted Japan lacked the means to occupy Hawaii. Here is his detailed map of Europe as she stood between April 9 and May 10 1940, at the end of the'Phony War' before the attack on the West began. A splendid period piece. Clean but darkened on the exterior, excellent mapping, Scale 1:4,800,000, supplementary maps, an essay on Military Geography of the area by Eliot. designed and executed by Richard Edes Harrison, the leading cartographer of the World War II era. But the creases are weak and fraying. Light can be seen through the creases. There are some places where the creases have worn through(see photos) There is a notation in pencil on the map. This map should be mounted behind glass to ensure its longevity. Size: 35 1/2 inches(90.2 cm) wide by 27 inches(68.6 cm) high.

This spectacular antique porcelain WW-2 map of Europe is big. About 32 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" tall with a 3/4" flange around the entire edge. The map is titled"The War Against GERMANY, 7 December 1941-30 June 1943" It is very sturdy and well made with a thick coating of vitrious enamel(porcelain) over heavy steel just like a porcelain sign.It weighs about 13 pounds! For sale here is a beautiful original vintage historical school pull down map of Europe 1918-1945 Printed in Germany by Westermann in 1976 The dimensions of this map are(approx) Width(inc poles) 233cm/ 7'7" Length: 187cm/6'1" width measurements include the fastening clip which can be removed. 6-10 cm long) This lovely old historical map of Europe in 1918-1945 is not only decorative and colourful but also is of interest to world war II enthusiasts. The main map is of Europe 1918-1937 there are a further three small maps to the side one of which shows government alliances after 1920. This map is in German. These beautifully decorative old charts are hugely popular at the moment as you get a lot of interesting wall filler for your money. It is printed on quality paper backed with canvas has black wooden dowels top and bottom ... moreand has a cord to hang it from. This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a cupboard so the colours are still very fresh. Obviously this map is not new and there is wear consistent with it's age. So please be aware of this and check all photos. There is some wear along the top title bar to which clear tape has been applied(probably by the school art department) to strengthen the map. None of this detracts from how wonderful this map is. These beautiful old school maps have been used as educational aids for the last 100 years or so. March 20. 1944 issue of weekly World War II Newsmap Vol II#48F[118th Week of U.S. Participation] Includes large map of"Europe" photos; maps; war updates and more. Newsmap is a series of WW II maps. Prepared and distributed weekly by the Morale Services Division of the War Department and the Army Information Branch. They are 35x47 inches large and were made to be pinned or taped on a wall for study. Each week the front had several detailed maps, a summary of what had been going on at the different fronts, and some great photographs. The obverse usually has a large map or other special features. These are fairly scarce as not many survived as they were made to be discarded like weekly news magazines. Very slightly time darkened. Will be shipped as origianlly folded. Fine+.
