Up for bid is a religious comic book entitled the Life of Christ. Reprinted by Topix as a religious teaching aid. It measures about 7” x 10” and dates to 1950. The comic is in excellent condition for its age. With normal tanning to the pages, but no rips, tears, or bent corners for the pages. The spine is tight and had to be held open for photos. There is wear at the bottom of the outer spine. And teeny corner damage on the front cover, but that is all(see photos#7 and 8) There is a name written on the front. Up for your consideration is a beautiful vintage sterling chalice and paten dating back to the 1950's and that have been restored for alter use. It comes with a travelling case. Both chalice and paten are from France and carry the hallmarks of 950(the best quality of silver) The base of the chalice has two very small nicks that are very hard to notice(way smaller that the head of a pin. Vintage World Bible King James Version in Original Box 606 1950's
This Bible was given from grandmother to granddaughter on her 19th birthday on April 25th. 1951. Presentation page filled out. The grandmother also noted granddads(favorite? text on St. Luke Chapter 14. This page had a crocheted cross for a book mark. The original birthday card was still in the box, and I will be leaving it there to document the history. The bookmark will stay with the Bible as well. It is beautiful in its own right. The glass cups are all hand blown. Which makes them a little different in each glass, from size to air bubbles in the glass. The cups were acquired from a small town in southern Utah. These very delicate cups have survived for 90 to 100 years. I have an advertisement that was in a church magazine about 1925 that shows a tray and the cups for sale. They were used until the 1950's. For your consideration. A holy water bottle from the 1950's. It is from the Church Of The Gesu in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; that church is still open and operating today. The bottle is clear glass with a black label. Silver printing on the label. Black plastic ribbed cap. Heavy and sturdy. The water inside has evaporated, leaving a chalky pearlescent residue behind. Never seen that before. The bottle is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or scratches. There is some wrinkling on the label, but that happened when the label was first applied. This mid century style of holy water bottle almost never comes around. Ready to display. It measures 5 inches tall. 2 1/4 inches across, and 1 inch deep. At this point. Mormon VINTAGE 1911 - 1950 GLASS SACRAMENT CUP UTAH b1
This auction is for one RARE 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 glass sacrament cup that was used by the LDS church. There are 2 different sizes that I know of. And a metal cup that was made shortly after, in 1912. The glass cups are all hand blown. Which makes them a little different in each glass, from size to air bubbles in the glass. The cup was acquired from a small town in southern Utah. This very delicate cup has survived for almost 90 years. I have an advertisement that was in a church magazine about 1925 that shows a tray and the cups for sale. They were used until the 1950's. Vintage 1950's LDS Sacrament Tray Silver Heavy Mormon Water Holder Communion My Grandmother tells me she acquired a bagful of these historic trays from a church that was being renovated near her home. She can't recall exactly when they started being used. Somewhere within the 1940's-1950's she thinks. She says they're silver. They are quite heavy. There are no cups for this tray. Patina is heavy, i didn't notice any major dings or scratches, just metal chalky residue. No engraving are visible as well. I have a few of these and bread trays and will be listing them one after another. Condition:Heavy Patina. Needs polishing, scratches/dust/scuffs/scrapes are visible throughout the item. This is a 1944 copyrighted printing of Fr. Stedman's pocket-sized Sunday Missal with the Mass Calendar commencing with 1951. No date of printing but presumed date of publication 1950. A Larger Type edition with Latin and facing English translations for the Ordinary of the Mass. Covers are American Seal Leather. Fr. Stedman(1898-1946) was a well-known author of Missals. Absolutely n o writing or stray marks to be found anywhere. Pages are neat. Clean, crisp and uncreased. Covers are also clean and attractive with some very mild wear. The binding is tight and solid. Reddish-gold gilt page edges have dulled slightly but are still bright and lustrous. An apparently very gently used copy. A lovely old-fashioned Sunday Missal in very neat and clean condition. Handy enough to carry around in one's pocket. This is a lovely illustrated Missal and prayer book in o ne. Ideal as a vade mecum for travelers. Pleased to combine shipping for multiple purchases.
