The cover is tooled leather ... morewith wonderful textured designs. Copper inserts found on the edges that have done their job in protecting the corners. I do not read German but I can see that there is a forward by Dr. Martin Luther as well as additional forwards to the reader. Bible contains Old and New Testaments as well as a few interesting engravings (some pics included). All pages are present and binding is holding but this is a very fraile Bible and will need to be handled carefully. The last two pages contain handwritten accounts of children born to the Kuhn family in the late 18th century and early 19th century. Really a wonderfull Bible that must have been cherished and taken care of through the years.

LARGE 1925 ILLUSTRATED GERMAN BIBLE W/ORIG SHIPPING BOX FRANKFURT GERMANY
This auction is for a Beautiful Large 915 page Illustrated German Bible from 1925. There are a few loose pages in the beginning of the bible but the covers. Binding and all of the rest of the 915 pages are in good condition. The Bible comes with the original shipping carton from 1925 from Frankfurt Germany and that is in rough condition but nevertheless is there.

Mid 1800's German Bible lithographs
Lithographs from a Mid 1800's German Bible. I tore and old farm house down and discovered an old german bible in the attic amongst other items. The Bible was to far damaged to save do to water.Mildew damage and rot. I was able to slowly peel apart the pages and was able to salvage most of the lithographs that was in it. As you can see from the pictures the water spots and mildew spots on the pages. I have cleaned them the best I could,some pictures have pin holes here and there and a couple that have small rips along the edges. But all are in decent shape for what it has been through. This Bible was printed by Chicago Publication& Lithograph Co. It's a very large Bible. 12.5"x10.5"x4" likely meant for use in churches. Gorgeous front cover features ornate pressings on the leather cover of Jesus, Mary, within a cross. Golden gilt within pressings. It has several large illustration block pages. It contains 1583 pages. Lots of illustrations. The pages are in very good shape for the age of the Bible, as you can see in the pictures. It has a date of 1866 printed in the front pages of the Bible. The cover edges and corners do have a bit of wear. Of course. See pix. Inside is incredibly good. Very little yellowing. Tissue plates are in place. There were some interesting papers inside. One card says the origingal owners name was: Marie& Francis Klaskin. This is a vintage leather bound bible. In general good condition considering it's age. This bible is entirely in German. Imperfections include a portion of the cross on the front board is missing. Wear and damage to the corners, exterior leather binding is in good condition but one section of interior binding is loose, and the closure clasp is missing. German Bible in Pristine Condition Part of my Inheritance
TREASURE" that is what a German speaking Lutheran preacher said when he was paging through this bible. This German Bible was given to me by my mother in later 2008 and it is part of my inheritance. Mom. Here, this is for the one that would show up and take care of me in my later days. It had it's own box( sleeve) with nothing printed on the outside and was heavy too! over 10 lbs) It is in pristine condition. It survived hurricane Wilma. Which took the roof off of my mothers condo. Luckily she had it on a shelf in her closet so there is NO water damage. The Old testament has a date of 1912 printed on it and one would ASSUME that this Bible was printed in 1912. When I discovered the New Testament had a date of 1956. That meant this bible was print after 1956. I would later find out that the Old Testament was interpreted from the 1912 ... moreversion. To today's German. This bible was printed by"THE" Martin Luther family itself in Stuttgart Germany! In 2014 I was lucky enough to find a Lutheran Church that conducts church in German once a month. Antique Bible Lot of 4 1700s German American 1800's Polygot & JB Ford 1846 Sears
Lot of 4 Antique Bibles 1700's- 1800's For your consideration I offer these 4 antique bibles. Lot includes: 1. 18th century German American colonial Bible. Measuring about 12" x 10" x 3" A very early American printed bible. I believe the type is Fraktur with text printed in 2 columns. 992 pages. Very thick boards bound in leather. While the bible shows a lot of age. Both boards are there as is the spine with most of its' leather intact. The front board has come loose, the back board is still attached by slightly loose. There is a lot of wear to the leather. The first few inside front board pages are loose with edge wear and some tearing to these pages. The rest of the pages are in very nice condition given age. They are supple, not dry and brittle. Expected staining can be found in spots throughout the pages. Please ... morereview all the pics and email me with any questions. 2. English Polygot Bible published by Samuel Bagster and Sons around 1888. About 9" x 7" with an oversized soft leather cover and 2 2/4" thick. The Bible has many pages for notations and comments with many of these pages filled in with comments by the original owner. E.E. Lewis. Normal wear to the large black leather cover. Inside front cover pages are loose including the inscription page. Interior pages are in very good condition. 3. Sear's Pictorial Sunday Book from 1846/47. Probably the first edition. 592 pages packed with incredible engravings. Cover has some separation of on the spine. Pages have staining but are in very good condition. 4. 19th century J.B. Ford Holy Bible probably dating to the first half of the 19th century. Two front plate engravings by John McRae. Measures about 12" x 10" x 3" Rough condition. Wow! Here is a very old. Antique, Catholic Prayer Book by Benzinger Brothers. Its not in english. I believe its German. I cannot find a date in it. Its obviously very old. The only number in in the back page that says Prayer Book 1376. It is still bound and held together good. Neat pictures on the front and back covers! Measures 3 5/8" x 2 3/8" x 1/2" thick. It does have illustrations. Lots of pics to really see how neat this prayer book is. I sell a very wide variety of things and try to explain them the best I can. Please ask any questions you have.
