Printed in the mid-19th century, on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Comparative length diagrams are at either side of the bottom below the spheres. In Good+ or better condition. Light uniform age wear, small light dampstain at bottom center edge, overall very presentable and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting antique map which will look ... morenice when displayed. Sheet measures c. 12 1/4" W x 9 1/2" H. Printed area measures c. 10 1/4" W x 8 1/2" H. 31031] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. This is a very nice large late 1950's to 1960's World Map. It is Mercator's Projecton Map that is quite large and very vivid in color. The map is 55 inches x 33 inches which is quite large when it comes to maps. It was very hard to get a picture of the whole map due to it's size. The map is in good condition and folds up well. An attractive map published in the International Atlas and Geography. A nice feature of this atlas is that the maps were individually bound along their long edge. Resulting in large maps without a centrefold. This map measures approx 40cm x 30cm excluding margins. Condition is very good. A strong impression that remains clean and bright with attractive printed colour; a few tiny specks and marks. Some very faint spotting and soft creasing. The margins are toned with a small amount of handling soiling; top edge s little discoloured and creased where originally bound. Verso completely blank. A copy of the title page is also included for authenticity. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. There is a single sheet map of the Eastern Hemisphere on one half of the reverse size. Overall. A Beautiful Map with Superb Color! Size: The map image measures approximately 14 by 18 inches on a 15 1/2 by 24 1/2" page with a centerfold as issued and a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: It is in Good condition. Basically as seen in the pics, with overall tonal aging and slight darkening around the edges. There is some internal stress in the area of Africa that has been reinforced on the reverse, it is really not very noticeable unless one looks for it, otherwise it is very clean with nice strong color and a nice antique quality that would frame up nicely. Fine. Original, steel-engraved map of the World Mercator Projection 2 sheet- Texas as Republic, by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge(SDUK) published as part of the Society's Atlas in 1844, in London, by Chapman and Hall. The SDUK began its map publishing project under the leadership of Captain Francis Beaufort R.N. in 1829, and published the maps in parts, haltingly, over the next 15 years, completing the series in 1844, finally permitting the publication of a whole atlas. Many of the maps were actually drawn by Beaufort, who at the time was the Hydrographer to the Royal Navy, and all were closely supervised by him. J. C. Walker worked closely with Beaufort in engraving the maps. Finely engraved, and carefully researched, the maps set a standard of excellence for commercial map-makers in England for decades to come. As Israel is recognized as a country; serial number is A-510000-215-7-8-9-16AP. The ruler in the photos is a YARDSTICK. The map measures a whopping 52" w x 33 3/4" H. In full color. Coated laminated paper with some rips along the left and right edges. A few pin holes from thumbtacks. On the upper right hand corner. The map has started to separate from the plastic header. There are 2 small metal loops from the top header from which to hang the piece. In good condition despite it's age. Not too many wrinkles.but always rolled, never folded. Pellet, Geneva, 1780 We are pleased to offer this scarce example of the world map compiled by the French cartographer Rigobert Bonne(1727-1795) for the atlas volume that accompanied the profoundly influential Histoire philosophique et politique. Des etablissements et du commerce des europeens dans les deux Indes by(1713-1796) Bonne succeeded Bellin as Chief Royal Hydrogapher at the Depôt de la Marine in 1773 and while his principal focus was on the production of marine charts. He also published general atlases throughout his career. One of the earliest world maps to present the name of the newly established United States(which was still engaged in the Revolutionary War when the map was published) the ... moremap provides a fascinating snapshot of European knowledge of the world at the time with some rather startling misconceptions. This example exhibits hand colour work of the highest order as well as a fine uniform patina and will make an elegant presentation if matted and framed. Among the cartographic curiosities found on the map we see Alaska presented as an island with Greenland connected to the North American continent. The north of which is largely an unknown void. As noted the map identifies the United States(Etats-Unis) to get a sense of map detail consider that the distance from Boston to the island of"Alaschka" as seen below spilling into left map border measures just 9 cm actual size: African interior almost entirely uncharted and Tasmania is shown as a peninsula to Australia: Condition- Please note carefully: Map is in very good condition as can be ascertained from photos.
