This is an antique folk art hand carved relief nude lady in the waves plaque wall hanging. Very nice details, the piece is 18" by 11" aged patina and some wear to the outer wood, tiny nail holes, may have been mounted to something, I purchased this years ago at an estate sale, the man having the sale was in his eighties, he said it had belonged to his father, his mom threw it out and his dad found it and hid it away for many years. It is a really great piece of folk art, I have enjoyed in my home for years displayed on a table easel, I am now selling many of my lifetime collection of things.

Offered is a Set of Two Vintage Hand Carved Wooden Folk Art Musicians. Each player measures approx. 16” tall. And the base is approx. 4 5/8” in diameter. Both are in good vintage condition with no cracks or broken components. The left ear on each player is very small. Especially the trumpet player. It appeared at first that the ears were broken off, but close examination shows that they are stained with the same finish as the rest of the bodies. The reason for the small ears is unknown. Maybe it’s a hidden message or trademark signature by the artist? The top clear coat glaze is very shiny in some areas and nearly matte in others. There are craftsman’s tool marks visible on each figure. Consistent with that of true hand crafted and hand finished wares. There is some fading to the gold accents on the cello. Very unusual hand carved prison folk art totem. It is a screaming man with a scull carved above his head( death weighs heavy on his conscience) It is signed on the bottom but i cant make out what the initials are or mean(see last photo) it has age patina to the paint. It is handmade and old, therefore not perfect. There seem to be no cracks or breaks. The teeth are uneven on the scull but were originally made this way.It measures 9 1/4 inches long.

We have tried many hours to find who this might be but with no luck, if anyone has more information we would love to hear from them. Age: we would date this piece to the late 1800’s– early 1900’s. It does appear to have good age and patina, the wood appears to be raw and never stained or varnished Size: measures 16 inches from heat to tail and over 10 inches high at the cat’s hind legs Condition: In overall wonderful condition with no major damage that we can note. There are some cracks to the wood from drying with age, there are some cracks around the legs, they go through on the back legs but don’t appear to on the front legs; one ear has some fretting and also the end of the tail; there is a piece of wood missing from the toe on one of the back feet; lovely patina and feel to the wood. Of Merrill Baumgardner, who was apparently a prolific collector, but many of the items were the possessions and collection of Helen Pope who had resided at the home since 1984 at the latest, according to local records. The collection was rich in Art Deco items of many flavors. Here is one of Helen's chotschkies. A beautiful old hand carved Hound dog, with classic black and tan features handpainted, no doubt someone's favorite old dog of childhood, perhaps. It took a skilled hand to carve the perfectly proportioned legs and tail. Which are of very narrow diameter, but the carver did it perfectly. Henry the Hound is only a little over ... more3" from nose to tail. And 2" to top of head. He is definitely a male dog as you can see clearly in the side profile image, and it was a particularly skillful carver to capture his gender. for such a little wooden dog. Description This is a old hand carved figure of a girl or young woman. Nicely done. Almost 6 3/4" tall x 3 3/8" wide on the bottom. The estate sale personal mark everything for cataloging with a black grease marker. The black mark on the bottom is from them. And it would not come off. I did clean the wood with orange oil. As it was dry from being in storage for 30 years. Does show signs of age. But still an interesting primitive piece. If you want your items mailed to a PO Box. Choose the USPS shipping option. I do combine shipping on multiple wins when possible. Request a total before paying for multiple wins. So that I can adjust the shipping. Terms of Sale As most of my items are vintage or pre-owned. If you’re a collector of American folk art then you already know you’ve come across something special in this antique carved wooden Bellamy eagle! As Wikipedia reminds us. John Haley Bellamy(1836– 1914) was a folk artist of New England. USA, known for his highly stylized carved wooden eagles and other decorative items for ships and homes. Bellamy was born in Kittery, Maine in 1836, and stayed there for much of his career. Later in his life he lived and worked elsewhere in New England. Although carving was his primary means of supporting himself, he never considered himself to be an"artist, and he is not known to have signed any of his pieces. His eagles are highly desired in the collectors' market, with some selling in 2007 for over $100,000, and a large piece setting an artist-record price of $660,000 at an August 2005 auction. ... moreBellamy died in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1914. This eagle is hand-carved from three pieces of pine joined with glue and corrugated metal wafer-type staples(we're not sure if the staples are original or perhaps added later for reinforcement) Most likely carved in the early to mid 20 th century. The unknown artist was continuing a style of carving made famous by Bellamy. The eagle is depicted in mid-flight and clutching a banner or pennant in its talons. At the head of the pennant is a single carved star followed by stylized stripes. The pole. Finial, and star field are painted black with a gesso base, with the rest of the banner in red. Both are then painted over in gold. The eagle’s body is skillfully carved and painted gold with a gesso base. The back is painted a mustard yellow. From tail to the tip of the finial the carving measures 33.5” long. 17.25” tall, and a maximum of 2” in depth. The eagle is in good antique condition with wear in all the right places with some exposed gesso and wood grain. The reverse shows an older series of repairs and some age cracks.
