The rest appears to be all original finish, and worn areas can be seen in the finish especially on the top. This stand has 4'sections' in it. Each of the four legs are surrounded with brass coverings. Canes shown for display only and are not included. I believe there would have originally been a drip tray with this but is missing. I don't know its age but it looks old, is well made and has a heavy cast iron base. It is also a space saver and will fit against a wall with its semi-circle shape. There are 3 finials and four separate sections at the top. Overall this piece is in excellent condition. vtg church office library industrial wood umbrella cane stand drying stand rare!
Up for consideration is a piece that immediately caught my eye. Measuring 38" x 14" x 32" high. I believe it may be an old umbrella& cane stand, from a church, or any public place or large office area. It would hold 40 umbrellas, etc, Alternatively, I have been told it may have had an industrial use, such as a drying rack. I'm not sure of the wood, but others say either teak or(most say) oak, with a(lead? lined bottom which dips to a drain hole& tube. The wood appears to be in great condition, other than discoloration, and what appears to be a small screw hole& mark from a washer, at each end. I did no more than lightly brush& dust it off, but applying a wood restorer product has been suggested. It is a heavy and a very sturdy item, and certainly draws attention.
