RARE Wood Antique Hand Carved Hobo Shoe Wooden Boot With Attached Leather Laces
This Antique shoe has been in our family for many years. We got it from our Mom who passed away 12 years ago. So we don't know the age of it. It has a few cracks in the wood as seen in the pictures. But that is part of the character of the shoe and does not harm the structure. There is also a dark knot in the big toe area(if you consider this a left shoe) that shows up as a dark spot on the pictures. The wood is raw as it has not been stained or varnished. The wood is one solid piece of wood making it very remarkable in artistry and construction alone. The wood is cared into the boot. Lots of good detail, then burned in worn out areas where the boot would show as authentic and worn. Very nice for a Western cabin or old Mercantile, cobbler shop themed room. Great man cave item! Guaranteed to be original and as described- A VERY unusual and quite unique Antique early to mid 19th Century hand carved wooden shoe. The shoe has a wonderful smooth feel overall from over 150 years of handling with an outstanding patina from age. The wood is a heavier type of wood and looking at the grain it looks to be oak and or a heavier fruit wood. SIZE: 10 3/4 inches long by 3 1/4 inches high by about 3 inches wide across the top.CONDITION: Fine condition. There are no repairs. Just some very minor loss on one end on top above the heel strictly from age and wear. There are some minor age cracks but nothing detracting from the awe of this superb and outstanding and highly unique and rare carving. The Shoe is signed on the very base with a roman numeral" III" and I presume that this was possibly used as some type of a store ... morewindow display for a cobbler. As to say that this would be a model showing off what the cobbler can do or an example of his work. The head, body, legs and base he is standing on is carved from one piece, the arms are attached with wood pegs. His right arm has been repaired as seen. The paint all looks original. Hand carved Folk Art wood wooden horse head shoe statue figurine sculpture
This is for a beautiful hand carved Folk Art Horse Head surrounded by a Horseshoe. There is an original old hanger that you can attach to the wall or it displays nicely on a desk/table. There is a brass inscription on the front lip that reads; CLOUD. BY LEONARD CASS. This carving was found in rural West Central Wisconsin. When I googled the closest town and this name, his birth date was 1888. He passed around 1970. So, my guess is that this was carved 1910-1950's. The hanger indicates some age as well as the fact that there are dowels and not nails holding it together. Interesting, on the back, it is marked; Doc Lar had this" The dimensions are about 9 x 9 inches. It is solid and weighs about 2 pounds 11 ounces.
