Vintage Grand Wood Carving Arabian horse Witez II, very RARE!
Grand Wood Carving horses were produced from 1939 to 1983. This one is of the famous Arabian horse. Witez II. Grand Wood Carvings were carved primarily from Mahogany, but in later years other woods were used. This one does appear to be a rich Mahogany. The color and wood grain is very rich. All the information about Grand Wood Carving was found on the Hagen Renaker Horses website under the section of Grand Wood Horses. The site has a wealth of information, and the info I have is from that site. Solid wood model does have a few minor small rubs. One ear tip have been chipped. Originally I thought the just the extended front leg had been repaired(clean breaks with just a big of excess glue below knee and at ankle) but upon further detailed inspection, the other front leg has been repaired as well. The other front leg was clearly not repaired ... moreby the same person. The repairs(there are two) are smooth to the touch in most places and match up perfectly almost as if they were done at the factory. Length of model is about 9" Height is about 7 1/2" I know these horses are extremely hard to find. And cost quite a bit when new. I was lucky enough to find a few of them. The only reason I'm having to sell and list them so low is because of real horse vet bills. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity. I do have a few others listed for sale. A wonderful large hand carved wooden horse head bust. Carved from one piece of wood and attached to the base. Finish is the original paint and is a mustard color with some orange here and there and black eyes. On the left side of the head area you will see a very slight separation which is just part of the aging process. It may have even been there when it was carved. Just wanted to point this out so you know. This piece is in excellent antique condition and is a rarity. It would be a wonderful focal point in any room. Walnut stain, it is difficult to identify what species of wood this large wood panel is carved from. It is definitely a hardwood ... morewith a tight grain. The panel measures 21 ¾ inches wide by 30 ½ inches tall by 1 ¼ inches thick. Including the carving. The back panel is actually made from three boards and the horse& rider were carved separately and then applied. You can see on the right hand edge that part of the horse's hoof is missing. There also is tip of a leaf missing from the bottom. There is one more problem that I will try to explain; two of the backboards are no longer held together. The carving itself is actually holding the two pieces together. This in no way effects displaying or use of this antique hand carved plaque. Aside from some assorted rubs and light scratches. The rest of this hand carved Roman solider and horse is perfect with no restorations. We are listing this circa-1900 architectural carved plaque without any reserve and we guarantee 100% that the high bidder will be totally satisfied with its age. It is really a nice figurine. Lots of detail. Even the anvil has pits in it from being hammered on. It is a wood carving of a blacksmith holding a hammer and a horseshoe. It is signed on the side but I can't make out the name. It looks like A. H(maybe)odRo or maybe tiodko. There may be accent marks. It is stamped on the bottom" Fait(something- has a L written over the area) la main cho? Amedde Gaudreau St. Damase L'islet tel(418) 359-2636" I am not sure if it is"choz" or what because the area is really dark where that part is stamped. I researched trying to find the artist without luck. The stamp did give me some clues. Fait la main translates French to English"hand made" I also researched the phone number and verifed it belonged to Amedee Gaudreau Enr. They are listed as sculptors in St. Damase-des-Aulnaies ... morein Quebec Canada. The area is well known for wood carvings. The wood is very light. I am not sure what kind it is. The varnish is a light tan color. The figurine is 8" tall. The cap brim looks like it may have been broken off. It is varnished like the rest of the wood so I am not sure if it was done in making it or was made this way on purpose. See photos. There is also a couple of spots on the back right corner of the base that looks like it has some white paint on it, see photo. Vintage Wood Carving Man on Horse The statue measures 15" to the top of the man’s hat& is approx. 8 ¾” L x 2” W. This sculpture is carved entirely out of wood and is mounted on a wooden base with two nails into the bottom. The arms are attached with one nail each. The left arm/hand that holds the reins is moveable(Noticeable in pics. and the reins can be removed. The right arm/hand that holds the staff is stationary. But the staff's position can be changed or removed completely. The staff used to be longer, as one end shows signs of breakage. The reins of the horse are made of fine nylon roping and the halter is affixed w/small tacks. Other than the staff. There is nothing broken or chipped. Vintage Wood Carved Marionette Puppet Jointed Horse
This is a vintage wooden jointed horse marionette. Probably from the 1940's, country of origin unknown. Made with wood and a horsehair tail, carved, painted and decorated with golden foil. Some of the strings need to be retied or replaced but everything is original. Dimensions(approx. The horse is 9.5" by 10.5" and weighs 11 oz. Bear in mind this is an antique piece and shows some wear and signs of age. However, there is no major damage and no repairs. Condition is as shown in photos. Buyer pays shipping. The saddle and pads are a combination of applied embossed brass trimmimg with brass tacks/nails and inset pieces of bone. Not sure what type. Maybe ox. This piece is very old as the embossing on the brass is worn off in many areas. This is a true piece of art with a great aged patina and a must for any avid horse/toy/carved figure collector. Large Carved Wooden Horse - Art - 22 inches tall - Wood Statue Carving
You are bidding on a large wooden carving. The carved horse has the tip of his right ear missing and the nails that connect the horse's belly to the wood underneath the horse are loose. They look like they need nailing back or gluing but I didn't try to fix either problem since I am not handy with woodwork and not artistic.
