Vintage Albert Clock Hand Carved Red Cedar Wood Folk Art Bird On Driftwood Runs
This is an interesting combination piece. Attached to the clock is a beautifully hand carved cedar bird on a piece of driftwood. Paper labels on the back of the clock(which is signed"Albert" identify it as"Made in Albert's Inferno" in Oregon. And sold only at shows or in the family gallery. In its wood frame the clock is 14" tall and 10" wide. The bird is 4 1/4" long from tail to beak, and 2 1/2" tall from its metal legs to its back. There are two holes in the top for hanging. I don't know the age of the clock, but a note on the back mentions that new batteries were installed in 1978. The bird is in excellent condition. The clock is running and keeping time. The frame is sturdy. There are scattered rust colored spots on the burlap background, and minor paint scuffs and scratches on the frame. ... moreDue to postage regulations, I will not include batteries.

Vintage Hand Carved Wood Bird Figurine Primitive Folk Art Style
Description CARVED WOOD BIRD Offered for bids is a Primitive Folk Art bird figurine hand carved from a single piece of wood. Posed with body stretched upright and tail fanned. Beak joins with the open work base. Grooved/cut feather lines and light texturing on base. Surface is natural with no varnish or finish. Figurine is approximately 7 3/4" high from base to tips of tail feathers. Light for its size. Weighing just two ounces. From an estate auction- unfortunately I have no history on the piece. Wood type is not known. Color is a medium dark brown with lighter warm brown striations running through it, some of which are slightly raised and textured. Piece is not marked. Unsure of age or origin. I believe this to be vintage, no newer than the 1960's, and made in the U.S.A. but I can't be sure. A Handsome Carved Bird Figurine ... moreCONDITION: No chips or cracks. Vintage Finnish Hand Carved Wood Man Playing Guitar & Singing Finland Folk Art
Here is a very unique and whimsical Finnish Hand~Carved Wooden Sculpture. It is carved out of one solid block of wood so there is no glue or nails holding the parts together. It has a varnished finish. A man with longish hair. Wearing a suit and bow tie is playing guitar and has his mouth wide open as he is singing away to his heart's content! By the expression on his face you can tell that he is singing as loudly as he can and lovin' what he's doing! The carving is 7" tall(including the base) x 3.5" wide x 2" deep. Very nice details, the piece is 18" by 11" aged patina and some wear to the outer wood, tiny nail holes, may have been mounted to something, I purchased this years ago at an estate sale, the man having the sale was in his eighties, he said it had belonged to his father, his mom threw it out and his dad found it and hid it away for many years. This item is a hand carved and hand painted wood duck figurine/decoy. The duck was purchased at Chincoteaque. Va. The figurine is not signed. This duck is grouped as Folk Art. VINTAGE AMERICAN HAND CARVED WOOD FOLK ART CHICKEN ~ 25 ½”
We purchased this wonderful large hand carved folk art chicken about 12-15 years ago from an older gentleman who had been storing it in his garage since the 1950’s. He had owned the chicken long enough he couldn't remember where or when he originally acquired it. We do not know exactly when this item was created. It looks 19th century to us. It stands approximately 25 ½” in height. Viewed from the front it is 9 ¾” deep and is 5 ¼” across the front of the base. It weighs approximately 11 lbs. The chicken is not marked as to who made it which is no surprise as older pieces seldom are. We photographed it outside in natural light and the wood is a little less red than the photos indicate. Based on the shape we think the carving depicts a pullet or young female chicken. The bird is carved entirely from a single piece of wood ... morethe variety of which we've been unable to ascertain. It doesn't appear to be pine. It may be some kind of oak; however. We’re just not sure what kind of wood it is. The chicken is in overall good original condition for a hand carved wooden piece with age. It is not perfect. We think that it was originally stained or varnished. There is no evidence that it was ever colored or painted. There is chipping to the bottom of the base at the foot. However. Since the piece is chip carved, it is difficult to say if this occurred during the carving or at a later date. There is a dehydration crack on one side of the base. This is to be expected in any older carved wooden piece. It is caused by the wood shrinking across the grain over time and is something you look for as a sign of age. It becomes part of the item’s bona fides. There is also what appears to be a chip to the middle toe nail on the forward foot of the bird. We say appears because it may have occurred as part of the original carving process. The above items are to be expected and not debilitating as the chicken displays very well. Pictured herein is a hand carved wooden penguin. It appears to be a vintage folk art piece. It measures approx. 5 1/4" tall and just over 2" at the base. It is a light color wood with stained or painted darker coloring of a brown/black. It has carved beak. Eyes, wings, and tail feathers. There is a shallow incised mark at the front of the neck which I don't know if it is part of the design or an imperfection. He's a handsome and unusual little character. Up in this auction is a wonderful carving of a man ... moreon an old fashioned beer barrel cart or wagon being pulled by an ox and a donkey. Following is the dutiful wife. All mounted on a stand. It measures approx. 14 1/4" x 6 1/4" high. We found the following history of ANRI on the anri-woodcarvings site on the internet. GREAT SITE! It all began in the late 19th century when Alois Riffeser traveled to the major European cities to sell the wood carved figurines and toys which were bought from the farmers of the Gröden Valley located in the Dolomite region of the Alps. This area in South Tyrol was part of Austria-Hungary at the time until being annexed to Italy in 1919. In 1912 Josef Anton Riffeser founded the ANRI Company. Which he named using the first two letters of his first and last name. After World War I, where he was in a prisoner of war camp in Siberia, he formulated his plan for a woodcarving company. He created his own models which he distributed successfully, mainly in the Alpine region. Josef’s wife. Carolina Riffeser ran the company during the difficult years of war and the absence of her husband. She was especially influential as her social positions were well accepted and
