It measures 9.6" tall, and roughly 5.8" across the base. It was used as a spill, as there is no wax residue, and the top edge shows darkness from smoke. It has a mark on the bottom. But I can make it out. Don't know the age and origin, I believe it was either from Germany or Switzerland. It measures 6"H x 3-1/4"W x 1-7/8"Depth. THIS AUCTION IS FOR 2(PAIR) OF ANTIQUE WOOD CARVED SWISS ALPS TYPE WOOD CARVED MAN FIGURES OR BUSTS. I BELIEVE THE ITEMS WERE MADE SOMEWHERE AROUND THE 1920'S-1940'S. BUT I AM NOT SURE. THE FIGURES ARE APPROX 6-6 1/2" HIGH. OVERALL THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ONE FIGURE WITH A SMALL NICK/CHIP YOU CAN SEE IN PIC 11. THAT SAME FIGURES BASE IS A LITTLE LOOSE. It is the most detailed version of this lion I've ever seen.notice the mane and the detail around the backbone.it's OH so perfect! It's a replica of a gorgeous stone carving in the side of a sandstone quarry which was finished in 1820–21. I do not know the age if this piece. Color note: It is not as red as my camera took it. It is more to the color of the bottom. If the exact color is important I will add a natural light photo. Flaws: there is a bit of crazing. But the wood is totally solid in its structure. Notice in the photos that the top of the shield and a bit on the lion's head is scraped/rubbed down a bit. Smoke and cat free home. We do have rescue dogs. So please forgive a chance stray hair! Shipping: to save you money. Vintage stag carving. This is a very nice wood carved stag that has been intricately carved by a skilled German or Swiss woodcarver. The base measures 14-1/2' wide by 4-1/4' deep and to the highest point of the antlers it stands 13' tall. It is in very good condition but with an age crack on the side of the wooded brush. By the front hoof(see last photo) but this does not detract. This is a great black forest carving and makes a wonderful display in a den or office. Q uestions welcome and thanks for the interest! Antique Intricate Hand Carved Swiss Black Forest Wood Owl Sculpture
This is a wonderful deep brown to black walnut owl statue or Figural finial. Hand carved from a single piece of wood. It is beautifully aged with a natural sheen and incredibly smooth surface. There's some dullness at the back of his head and a very fine line which through a loupe appears to be a part of the wood. He also has a crack across each leg that does not go all the way around, and appears to have been done intentionally in the carving. He measures 5" tall and about 2 1/2" wide with a 1 3/4" base. I found this in a barn full of quality antiques here in NH. Please note- I dont accept returns for anything other than an inaccurate description or if the item is damaged in transit. Hunting bag slung over his shoulder, and his gun on his back. This was carved as a whip holder or a coat hook and at one time it had a music box but no longer as the music box does not work anymore. This was probably carved from Lindenwood and stained a rich walnut brown and is a beautiful item even without the music box. These items are almost impossible to find anymore. This dates to circa 1920's and has"Patent" inscribed on the back as well as the label that tells us the Swiss songs that it played at one time. Black Forest Wood Nativity Baby Jesus Handcarved Brienz Vintage Signed Swiss
A wonderful Signed Nativity from Brienz Switzerland. This piece came from a nunnery in Syracuse NY. It is signed and numbered on the back. The piece Measures 24" by 17" by 9" Artisan hand carved and colored. A real work of art from the famous wood carving town of Brienz. Unsure of age although I am guessing the 50's or 60's. It is difficult to make out the artist's name but it appears to be C. THOMANN BRIENZ. Please see the condition report and also the photos.

THIS IS a early hand carved wooden figure with swivel head.excellent condition was not able to find another.it is a toothpic holder i believe.But when i got this item it was full of old wooden matchsticks. so i guess it could be a match holder as well? either way this is a old item hand carved.there is a original sticker on the bottom please refer to pic to possibly identify the maker. i am clueless and could not find another. priced to sell like all my items.this item stands 5 1/2 inch high by 3 1/2 inch deep by 3 inch wide.also the head swivels and does not come off. NR WWII Era Swiss Gnome Faced Figural Nut Cracker Hand Carved Black Forest Wood
Welcome* Up for bidding is a very old hand carved Black Forest Nut Cracker with a gnome face. He was purchased from the artisan by my father when he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is expertly carved of hard wood. His coloration is still present in his red kerchief. Tanned face, red tongue, and brown"body" The carver put a great amount of detail into his features for his eyes, eye brows, and lips; very life-like. His jaw is hinged and when open displays his teeth and tongue. He apparently was used to crack nuts, so he has some signs of loving wear. I have done my best to describe him. Up for auction is a stunning antique wood statue. It is of the Lion of Lucerne. It is a really well done piece. The detail and patina to the wood is just amazing. It measures 5" wide x 2 1/4" deep x 2" tall. The shield needs to be reattached. It is in otherwise very nice condition. Vintage 12 Piece Carved Wood Nativity Holy Family Creche Swiss Black Forest NR
Just in time for Christmas. This is an older 12 piece hand carved wood Nativity or creche set that I picked up this spring at an estate sale in the Washington DC area. The home had very nice Christmas and holiday items. Mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. I think this set spent most of its time in the original box. The carving, color and detail are really nice! I included a few photos with the figures with the manger, but I’m selling that separately. The closeup on the black magi gives you some idea of the detail and carving. You can see the wonderful coloring with subtle shading. There are no markings on the pieces. They were stored in their original shipping box which has the return address R. Michel. Woodcarvings, Haldenstrasse 13, Lucerne, Switzerland. It was mailed in 1958, so I’d assume the set dates from around then. As for the carver, ... moreit could be Swiss or German. I checked some Anri styles, but couldn’t find anything quite similar, so you’ll have to decide. It’s a nicely carved set no matter where it was made. They’re getting harder and harder to find. The set has 12 pieces. They include: Kneeling Mary. Joseph, 3 sheep, Jesus in Manger, Donkey, Standing Black Magi, Kneeling Magi, third Standing Magi, Shepherd with staff, and young kneeling Shepherd. The standing figures are all about 4.75 inches tall(12.07 cm) The sheep are about 1.75 inches long; the Jesus and manger is 2.25" by 1.75" There’s nice use of silver and gold on some of the gowns and crowns of the kings. The black Balthazar is my favorite piece… check out the photos. The overall condition is very good with no visible damage. The only issue is that the tip of one of the donkey’s ear is chipped. Offered for sale is a wood carving. This was hand carved and sold as a European Grand Tour souvenir. This is a rendition of a statue that is carved into a grotto in Lucerne. Switzeralnd. The original was made to commemorate the Swiss Guards that were massacred during the French Revolution in 1792, they were housed in the Tuileries Palace. Plaque is carved in a concave manner. And depicts a dead lion, who is laying on a shield with the red Cross of Switzerland. The hand carved words across the top read in Latin. Helvetiorum Fidel Ac Virtuti.
