Vintage Dala horse figure and pin These are a great set. One to wear and one to display. The figure measures 4 inches tall. And about 3 3/4 inches head to tail. The pin measures 3/4 of an inch long. And 7/8 of an inch tall. They are both in good condition with no missing paint or chips. The pin on the little one is tilted upwards a bit but still functions as it should. This is really nice antique Swedish Dala horse. He stands just over 4.5" tall. He has a wonderful patina and unusual. Older design. His carving is very nice and he has a good profile. He is very striking and his colors are just lovely in deep orange, muted blue, cream, red and black. His paint does have some overall wear from age. Swedish VINTAGE 8 " DALA HORSE + CANDLE HOLDER - Folk Art Sweden
This item was listed last week but several wrote to see a close up of the burn damage and we have re-listed. It stands about 8-14" tall. Any early dalas made as candle holders shows the hole was made before the horse was painted. This one was made into a candle-holder after the dala was painted. The candle in it. At the time of purchase, had so much age that it literally fell apart so we will leave it to the new owner to replace. This is from the mid 1900 and except for a chip and burn marks/crazing. It is very sturdy. These are great to use as centerpieces or just add to your current dala collection For those who asked, the burn marks and crazing are shown in the last 2 pictures. Old Handcarved Swedish Dala Horse, Burnt Orange, 5 1/4" (13.4 cm) Tall
Original old hand carved dala horse from Sweden. This horse has a burnt orange color and well-done artistic painted decorations. It stands 5 1/4 inches(13.4 cm) tall to the top of the ears and is 4 3/4 inches(12 cm) long from tail to tip of nose. There is no makers mark. The painted finish shows some nice age checking(see pictures 7& 8) On the tip of the ears. The paint has chipped off, showing aged wood underneath(the unpainted bottom of the horses feet show this same aged wood) There is an old very thin age check(drying crack) in the wood to the left of the horses painted tail. On the bottom of the horse are original saw kerf marks, original from the carver of this horse. This is a very nice handcarved old dala horse that likely dates to the early 1900s, perhaps older.
