This is a superb and intricate lime wood carving of the owl perched on the books of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the period of the 19th century and is of black forest origin. Relief carved in a lime wood mounted on the two books. Intricate carving of the owl with its quite superb claws. Perched on the two books. Has an overall height of about 9inches. Max overall size of about 5.5 x 5.5inches. Condition: Considering the age. The overall condition is excellent with the only blemish underneath with rubbing and wear and a chip to the corner of the book. All as per pictures.
